So confused!

The other town had 2 music notes and 1 heart, and my team had either 2 hearts and 1 music note or 3 hearts, I can't remember, so I clearly beat them in terms of ranking.

Yet, I lost. Wha? Is it a glitch and I should reload?

The hearts, music notes etc. don't all count the same. You have four categories per symbol.
E.g the music notes have "delicious", "pretty good", "quite tasty", and "this isn't bad"

"this isn't bad" has a lower score than "delicious", but they are both music notes.

If your team has two low hearts and a low music note and the other team has two high music notes and for example the best heart they still win, because the heart pushes their score.
(1.0= best heart, 1.25 second best, 1.5 third, 1.75 fourth. 2.0 best note and so on)
your team: two low hearts plus one low music note: (1.75+1.75+2.75)/3= 2.08
their team: one high heart plus two high music notes:(1.0+2.0+2.0)/3= 1.66
There are many possibilities, this is just the clearest example.

It's not a glitch, I would probably reload and see what happens (if the event is important for you)
