I've been looking all over for good tips and examples of Gardening Tour setups, but strangely enough there's hardly anything out there - at most a post buried halfway in a thread somewhere. Especially if you're still in your early years and you don't have access yet to the more advanced designs, it can be really hard to score with this event.

Fogu has a lot of information on the various points items will earn you, but there's no neat list of every theme/category and all the items that count towards it. Well, I really wanted to be able to see which items I could use to bump my points so I'd hit the 50/100 mark, so I ended up making that extensive list myself in Word. I also use a Notepad file to keep track of the sets I assembled and when I used which one, so that I won't risk losing out due to reusing too many items. I even grabbed an Excel sheet last time and used the cell lining/colouring to see which and how many items I could cram in the 12x12 area... all that's not THAT weird, is it? Nah. *sheepish grin*

Anyway, I've just had my second Gardening Tour (Winter Year 1) and it was such a success that I thought, why not start the sharing myself? Maybe it will help others, and maybe others will post good sets as well for everyone's benefit. Yes, including my own, of course. ^_^ After all, we all need to host at least 3 of them for TRP 4... might as well make some money off it.

Here's what I used in my latest setup. As you can see, it's all early-access decorations, so this should be a good one for people who are still in their first year and/or haven't unlocked the 'big score' decorations yet:

10 hanging pots
10 lattice fences
10 scarecrows
1 fountain
2 watering spots
1 hay bale
(2 empty spaces)

This setup gave me no less than 1120 points! (and I even got lucky and had 13 judges visiting - kaching!) Here's the breakdown, if you're interested:

170 GP (base for 34 items)
200 GP (101 Country)
200 GP (100 Western)
100 GP (53 Eastern)
100 GP (10 Chic)
100 GP (10 Water)
100 GP (10 Animal)
150 GP (individual item bonus)

I tried taking a screenshot of the setup for a nice visual addition, but everything was so propped up that I couldn't get in between to take a good screenshot showing the entire plaza. I guess that's the downsize of going for maximum efficiency, hehe.

Edit: I have a screenie now! Here's the setup that's listed above:

Have you had setups that scored well? Then post them! Let's make a nice collection of Gardening Tour setups. :D

I had one setup that scored well. And all I did was fill the entire square with wooden fences.

I was pissed because the previous one was a failure, and I really tried to make it look good...

And surprisingly the wooden fences gave me a sucessful tour and a good money~

36 weather vanes! *fist pump* Scored in the 1,000s. They buy it from you, and you make about 18k profit (that with the price of the iron already subtracted of course)

Then my other one earned around 800ish, I made it when I was still a new player:
Tons of colored benches, lattice fences everywhere, loin bush thing it there somewhere, and random things from town XD Sorry, I never wrote it down.

Great post! I just had my first gardening tour and had no idea what I was doing I don't know how many points I got but the word moderate was thrown around, I got some money but no one bought anything.

I did not cram enough in, my space was sparse as I was going for nice looking garden seating area oh well at least I didn't fail........ I think.

I may have to get all note takey too and work this out properly.

EDIT Marlouzemuis any chance of sharing your fab lists? I understand if not but I thought I'd ask just in case x

Wow Lemo, that is one awesome setup. And easy to assemble, too. Mind if I snag it for the next round?

Angelic, 36 Weather Vanes... and 1k+ points? nowai! I'm so going to use that for my next set...

Which does remind me of something I had been wondering... can theme/item sets count more than once? Like, if I were to put 5 Red Flower Arches and 5 Blue Flower Arches, would I get 5 times the 100-point Flower Arch set bonus - or only once?

Solstice, sure thing! Although not sure about the plural, as I only really have one list. Unless you mean my Notepad file where I keep track of the sets I used? I doubt that's useful to you.

Here's the link to the list of Themes/Categories: http://snk.to/f-cdksoae5. I have a printed copy for easy reference, and I've already looked at it so often that it's been more than worth the time it took to compile, haha.
