Q: I've seen a lot of people say that you can no longer move the villager's houses around and edit the town. Does this mean any edit? Can we still place flowers or fountains? Or chop down trees? Or is it totally off limits?
The town is a set structure so you can't move people's houses anymore, but there are small areas that need developed. You can place anything you like as long as it's not farm buildings. It seems to be opening up slowly, first area I got was really small but now I've got a huge square to develop.
The area is really limited and you can only edit one at a time. So if you want to use the bush from another area you have to run over, edit that, then go back to the area you want to use.
Good point though, no trees will randomly grow in town so you don't have to worry about trees ruining your design like in ANB. Villagers and visitors seem to comment about the decoration so I think it helps with your town.
Awesome! Thank you :D! I just want to fill the world with flowers :D!!!!

I didn't see this question when I looked through the thread, so sorry if it's been answered, but how is the music? In older HM games, the music would change per season, but the town would also have different music than some other parts, or your farm would. In ANB though, the music was really the same in all spots of the map except for when you traveled. Does it only change per season in SoS? Or does it change when you walk into other places of the map? Thank you :D

The music is the same throughout the world and changes each season. There is a record player you can build in your house, but just like the one in ANB, the music resets to the default season music when you exit the house.

Thank you! Kind of sad about that but it can't be helped. How do you guys who have the game like the music overall?

Will the vendors/stores ever have more items? Like, will I ever be able to buy more than 20 fertilizer at a time?

The vendors seem to get more items the more I sell and buy from them. Though they all have different ones and never the same items. They never sell fertilizer, you need to make it yourself with the Seed Maker building.
It's hard at first as there's only one vendor and she sometimes doesn't come so I'm stuck with a bag full of stuff for a few days.
About the music for me it's sort of meh, I usually play on the train so I have it turned down a lot of the time. When my sound is on though I feel it's a bit repetitive and some of the season's songs annoy me. Think it was winter that got turning down the sound even when I was at home.

Sorry I'm still just very confused on this part and can't find it anywhere...in ANB we had 3 parts to our farm, so could have 3 chicken coops + 3 livestock barns, and one pet house.
How many barns/coops can we have in this one? Also 3, or just one?
Also, just wondering if the limit on pets has changed since only the dogs help you herd now.
Thank you!

Alright, not sure if this is the right place for these kind of questions, but I'm new to the HM series, I've read through all the available information but I still have some more general questions that I'd like to know before deciding whether or not to pre-order it.
1. How does farming here differ from farming in RF4? I assume that it's deeper/more complex, but I seriously haven't a clue.
2. Past tutorials and setting up, what does the typical day in Story of Seasons look like? How much time would you normally be spending doing farm-related things versus interacting with villagers, cooking, and other activities? And related to this, is this like RF4 where I can choose to focus on whatever I feel like, or are there more significant consequences for ignoring certain aspects of the game?

I can't answer the second question as I am not far in my game enough to know, but I can answer the first one. (But I think you can focus on whatever you feel like, but certain things probably won't unlock unless you do things like ship X amount of crops, or animal products, or fish, etc. HMs tend to be balanced in the aspect in that everything you do tends to lead to unlocking something, even if it's a minor thing.)
So the farming is somewhat different. In RF4, you have a field and can till/plant anywhere in that field. In SoS, you can till anywhere on your farm, which is a big grassy field, as long as there aren't rocks or trees in the way (which you can break once you upgrade your tools). You can entirely customize your farm (although I don't know if you can move your house), so you can put your barn/crop fields anywhere you want.
The way you farm is by holding down the button, you use your hoe on the ground, and it digs a 3x3 garden bed. You plant a bag of seeds in it (one bag is 9 seeds) and you tend to them just like you do in RF4.

From Cher's summary on the SoS page:
"the star makes crops retain their "fresh" status for longer."
Freshness? D: Like in umm grand bazaar? Does this mean hording everything is out of the question? Can anyone tell me how bad the freshness system is in this game?

It's not like how it was in GB/ToTT. In this game, when you first harvest a crop, it will have 'fresh' in front of it's name. After a few days or so, the 'fresh' part will disappear, but the crop doesn't go bad. It just becomes a normal crop. The only thing the 'fresh' part does, as far as I'm concerned, is make it easier to win the crop festival. It also slightly raises the crop's price. Mariethecrocheter on Tumblr has a good post on it, if you want to go check her blog out. It should be here:
under the Crop Festival section.

I'm interested to know about the pets in this game. Do you have choices in what colour and breed the dogs/cats are and can you choose the colour of your horse? Also, how many pets are you allowed to have?

Yes there are different choices for dogs and cats.
The horse you get through the event is brown.
But if you don't want to get that one there are other colored horses that you can purchase.
However in the case of both cats, dogs, and horse; most variations aren't available until year 2 and 3.
