Kana's horse?

Does anyone know if Kana's horse, Hayate, is male or female?

I'd asume it was female, like every other animal in HM xD Though Hayate is a rather masculine name? Based off animes? *doesnt actually know*

I do believe Kana uses female pronouns for Hayate in dialogue, but it's been a while since I last played ToTT.

I googled it and apparently Hayate is Japanese and means smooth.
