I was planning on reading some of the DA books too, though I'm mostly interested in Asunder and The Masked Empire.

lol Cullen's VA, he seems to love finally being a romance-able character. Also super late but I'm excited for Gwendoline Christie! I hope her character is important.

You know, I never knew how big a fan base Cullen had until now. I don't see what you guys see in him. All I see is a guy who'd rather kill a bunch of mages on a hunch instead of solving a problem rationally. I did like him more in DA2 and before he went crazy in DAO during the Mage Origin, but my image of him being how he is in DAO is how I will always see him.

@Kirie: Qunari all the way baby!

Edit: I think the only book I'm missing is Masked Empress, but I should go in order. Maric and Loghain's back story really should be first.

Considering the dude was being TORTURED for hours/days and he saw all of his friends brutally murdered I can give some leeway to him for being a bit mentally off at that one time in DAO. Can you really blame the poor guy? His ending slides were rumors that proved to be false in DA2 as well, so it's not honestly like he hates all mages or has killed a « Puppy Doodoo » ton of them? His character is VERY grey, he has a lot of internal struggles and honestly he's one of the best Templar POV's we've come across. He was there in DAO where he was almost tortured to death by mages, to being one of the highest commanders in Kirkwall where he actually went against his commanding officer because he was absolutely against the annulment of the mages there.

I don't mind when people dislike him (it's completely understandable) because that's their prerogative, but I really hate having to defend the guy when he's not even my favorite character  Here is a better write up on why fans are excited for him:
R2s Muse wrote:"In short, he's a fascinating character who, despite his limited screentime, has gone through a rollercoaster of character evolution through both games and his inner struggles epitomize one of the central controversies of the Dragon Age world, the mage-templar debate. In the first game you saw him go from mage sympathizer to someone who is now a victim of those very mages, tortured and suffering. In the second game, he is still recovering and yet spent the game with a growing uncertainty in whether Meredith's Circle follows the true principles of the Order. Regardless of which side you choose, he ultimately helps overthrow her in a bid to stand up for what he thinks the Order truly stands for, which isn't killing mages outright but protecting them as he protects others from them. He's seen both extremes of what a Circle can be and tries to find the moderate road. Even DG has called him "the voice of sanity." All this sets him up to be a remarkable window into the mage-templar conflict in the future, making him a fascinating option for companion."

That makes a lot of sense. I don't out right hate the guy; that would be ridiculous, but I don't like him either. He's a grey area with me  Like I said before, I'm glad all of you who like him get to romance him and maybe I'll grow to like him in this title.

Yeah, there's a lot of people who dislike him. It's totally cool  Most are hardcore mage fans, which is understandable (I'm pro-mage myself). I sometimes feel like Bioware hasn't given the templars a good enough point of view. We've seen through the eyes of so many mages, but for the Templars it's really one sided.

aaand sometimes you just don't like a character for whatever reason, and that's fine too. I'm not a fan of Morrigan, but I can see how and why people enjoy her. She's a really well done character, I just can't stand her at all xD

I like Morrigan as a character, but her personality irks me.

I'm pro mage as well, but throughout DA2 I sided with the Templars a lot (except with Feynriel who went to Tevinter and the Orlaisian guy in the bar who I told to get out of the city) mainly because I wanted to avoid a war and my Hawke thinks that if Bethany wasn't an apostate she wouldn't have been killed by that ogre so he wanted to make sure that every mage was in the circle and could go on living. Guess you could say I was pro Circle until the last minute.

If players push through side missions and cinematic sequences, Lee estimated the game will take somewhere between 40 and 50 hours. All-in, with the side missions, time for exploration and viewing of sequences, Lee said there will be well over 100 hours of gameplay.
Goodbye free time, it was nice knowing you!

I will gladly sell my free time to play 100 hours of this awesome looking game. That's nearly triple the normal playtime of DAO and DA2 separately.

DA: O got pretty long with all the DLC, and even that got exhausting to play through. Hopefully it's not hours of tedious side quests.

Also...
I'm getting painful Leliana / Tali flashbacks right now.

Each LI va gets to sing their own song during their character's « Chicken Hugging » scene.

VERY CURIOUS HOW CULLEN WILL FAIR, AS A SINGER.

EDIT: Also, 100 hours sounds FANTASTIC. Just started DA:A and can't wait to get started on DA2. ;;

When a game dev says "the game will be ____ hours" I always cut that figure in half because usually there's some PR speak in what they're saying. Even so, 50 hours is still really good considering the amount of replays (and eventual DLC) that we get. Definitely not worried!

Yeaaah the Cullen party on Twitter was a lot of fun! Greg Ellis is SO incredibly kind and good to his fans. (unlike Anders VA who I found out is actually kind of a « Sheep Squeezer ». Such a shame :/ ) Greg says he'll be doing more of these "parties" in the near future.

Here's the other "singing" tweet:

Greg Ellis actually has a superb singing voice (you can look it up if you're curious) so I'm really excited!
