Well, if you want to be technical, gayshep got the worst of it all considering they had 0 choices until ME3. But yeah, gayshep and femshep really got screwed for romance content in ME3. I'm of a mind that just because Kaidan wasn't interested in maleshep in ME1 or ME2 doesn't mean it's a retcon or something. Sexuality is extremely fluid and maybe he just had to work up to it in ME3. Maybe it wasn't the right time. I can easily see him bi though.
It's like the Cullen debate, just because he wasn't interested in a male in DA:O doesn't by any means mean he won't be interested in males when DA:I comes around. It only proves that he isn't only interested in males, that's it.
Forever a Garrusmancer. Him and femshep are pretty much my OTP. I never romanced anyone else in my numerous playthroughs of the games.

I liked playersexuality. Just cause there were so many more choices. I love playing as characters of any gender and don't mind at all playing a straight character so I don't mind set sexualities either. But I'd still prefer playersexuality. Preferably with some extra dialogue that changed depending on your character's gender.
And I was really glad Kaidan was available for both genders. He's really handsome and I like his personality too. If he wasn't open for both, then Steve would be the only option. Or someone else would've had to be an m/m LI. And who's to say he was not bi all along?
My favorite ME characters are Jack and Miranda. I love them so much. Jack might be my favorite video game character of all time tbh. I also love Kaidan, Kelly, Thane, Wrex, Morinth, Mordin, Ashley and Eve.
My favorites from DA are Merrill and Morrigan. Merrill a little bit more, maybe. I don't like her as a love interest, but her personality and bromance are just perfect imo. Morrigan is awesome as a whole and her romance is my favorite in the DA series probably. Out of all the bioware romances I've experienced, I think hers was the best written one imo. I loooooove Fenris, Zev and Wynne too. I have mixed feelings on Anders. I loved him for a long time, but lately I'm not sure how I feel about him. I like his romance story as a tragic one. It's really destructive and I don't think either him or Hawke are happy during it.

Spoiler:
When you put it like that, it makes sense and GayShep along with LesbianShep did get an even shorter stick than FemShep, but, in my opinion, if BioWare was going to take LIs away from Shepard, why not one from MaleShep and one from FemShep instead of two from FemShep? I also don't count Kelly or Diana as true LIs, but as just flings (sorry for the people who actually like Diana and Kelly as LIs), but you've got to think: if that leaves FemShep with two LIs who are both feminine (Liara and Samantha). I'm not saying either of those two are bad, but it restricts FemSheps who're straight.
I have romanced other people. I've romanced Liara, Tali, and Thane. If I could I'd romance Kasumi, but alas, I can't. However, none of them can compare to Garrus. I plan on going through a Jack romance if I go through the trilogy again as MaleShep.

You misunderstood what I was saying. By Femshep I was talking about STRAIGHT femshep. Lesbian Shep didn't get the short end of the stick in comparison to straight females (in ME3) and gayshep. Liara had the most romance content out of every single LI and they were able to romance her in every single game. Not so for Gayshep.
Spoiler:
Honestly, I can see both sides for the arguments. I personally like set sexual orientations more if only because I think that ends up having better written characters and their history/interactions/etc and it just feels more...real? However, it's obviously going to make options more limited, but if it's even out, it shouldn't be too bad.
I just hope, that if characters do hit on you, they won't skimp that out on the gay LIs. I wanna see the weenie "NO HOMO" players cry. I feast upon their tears.

Well, I've never really liked romancing males in games, even if I'm playing a female. Just seems awkward I guess, though I did finally romance Alistair just to see those romance events. Wasn't bad.Ronin19 wrote:SNIP
Speaking of romances and companions, anyone got a favorite companion and/or love interest from any of BioWare's games they'd like to share?
SNIP
As far as other BioWare games:
Jaheira - Baldur's Gate 2 - Liked seeing the struggle to remain Neutral.
Bastila - Knights of the Old Republic - Her knowing who you really are, and still falling for you.
Ashley Williams - Mass Effect - Initially only female human. Sexing it up with aliens just doesn't appeal.
Vette - Star Wars the Old Republic. Ok ... except this alien. :D

That's putting your own restrictions on it though. For all intents and purposes, even if those are "extra" those are options that straight femshep and gay shep DON'T get.
Gayshep: If Kaidan is dead, they get 1 choice in ME3. But they have 0 romances in the other games.. they get the worst representation of the bunch. They get 0 "side" romances.
Lesbianshep: They have Liara who has plot armor. In ME2 they get shafted because most of their choices are "side" romances. In ME3 they get two choices, Liara and Samantha no matter what because those characters can't be killed. They get "side" romances in ME2 and ME3.
Straight FemShep: Had options in all 3 games, with a ton of them in ME2. 0 "side" romances. In ME3 she gets shafted because two of the romances are terminated. She can have 0 romance choices if she didn't romance Garrus in ME2 and Kaidan is dead.
Straight Shep: Gets the whole « Snuggly Bunny » harem
So while Lesbianshep gets the shaft in ME2 if you don't consider the "side" romances, gayshep gets screwed in the first two games and has a whole ONE whopping option if Kaidan is dead. No side romances. As a straight Femshep romancer, ME3 really sucks for choices and axed romances but compared to the gayshep options it's not really comparable imo.
All of this can be boiled down to: Straight male Shep had way too many choices lmao

Very true
Makes me think that the original concept of Miranda and Thane being bisexual should have taken action. Well, MaleShep's love interests are all equally good as well; most of my favorite LIs are MaleShep exclusive. My top 5 starting from the top are Garrus, Jack, Tali, Ashley, and Miranda. They were all just written well in my opinion.

It felt like ME3 kind of screwed over any romance that wasn't among your remaining squadmates. Thane's was pretty unsatisfying and strange at times, I didn't enjoy his Citadel DLC content either. I feel bad for anyone who romanced Jacob and expected payoff though lol.
I love that elf concept art! I wish we could get these pictures in higher quality.
