Perhaps this is the reason why XSEED keeps quiet as well. XSEED never mentions Harvest Moon in their press release and same thing goes for Natsume: never explain things about Story of Seasons. I think there are some kind of mutual agreements on both parts. Either way, we can only hope for more information.

I could have sworn false advertisement was illegal.
This isn't false advertisement. They own "Harvest Moon" and are publishing a "Harvest Moon" game. They simply are not using MAQL's "Bokujou Monogatari" existing game to do it this time. Nothing false about it.
There really is just a small part of series fans that are aware of the Bokumono games that come from Japan. The remaining casuals will buy it just the same as any other Harvest Moon game; for example, I would receive a lot of questions about Hometown Story because it had a "Harvest Moon" sticker on the front of the box art. Not technically "Harvest Moon", but they still bought it because they enjoyed the series. Casuals are a big chunk of HM sales.
Both games will sell just fine. Just think of it as having two new entries in the the genre of farming simulation games.
So are you confirming that this is now Harvest Moon 12?

Not so much as unveil the truth, but use the truth in the way it serves their pruposes the most.
Saying right of from the start "This game is not being made by the same team that made the previous games" is difficult in a Press Release, since you can't control the information flow with a written piece.
Instead, during an interview, they can easily do what they need in order to "soft" the punch
"This game is not being made by the same team that made the previous games...is being made by an all new and much better team, even with some people that worked in the original SNES and N64 games, because you, our loyal fans, deserve something better" that way they try to win some of the hardcore people that are right now hating them for hiding that little fact.

It's still lying by omission. The franchise may be theirs but the content won't be the same. People will go in expecting the usual "HM" stuff and while it may be similar, it's not the same.
It may have been jumping to conclusions that the companies had a bad break up, but I have a hard time imagining maql was okay with this cause unless they are involved in the developing of the game, this series will just be a rival for SOS.

That is true, Brose. This supposed split doesn't seem like it ended on good terms at all, in fact.

Im worried this may not work in as much of their favor as they are hoping.
If they market it like its a new Harvest Moon game, made by Marvelous, and dont really say anything. Then make the game like previous Bokumono games. Couldn't that be cause for a lawsuit?
I don't know if I'm making sense, but I'm thinking about what happened with CandyCrushSaga. CCS trademarked the words "candy" "crush" and "saga" (saying it was to keep others from copying their game) but then went sue-happy on any game that had those words in it. Even if it wasnt a match3 style game.

"Harvest Moon 12" is simply the ID that I assigned to the games for the message forum order. It has no official weight or title from any of the game's developers. Technically, the title "Harvest Moon 12" does not exist, but it simply happens to be the 12th sub-forum on Fogu.
(It's not even the 12th handheld game, since HM DS Cute was lumped into the HM DS forum. I guess Tsunagaru Shin Tenchi would technically be #13 and Lost Valley would be #14 *if* it is a full-feature game.)

So both Story of Seasons and this game will count on this forum?

I noticed that too. I'm not sure if that's the real rating or not, but if it is, I'm curious about what could possibly bump this game's rating from the usual HM E rating to an E10+ rating.
We'd tell you but it would be a big spoiler. There's a thread for that.
October 7 is too soon. I won't be ready

You gotta get to work on that webpage. xD

What is the series is diverging?
So far I haven't seen Marvelous' name on Lost Valley.
Which makes me think there is a possibility Natsume may be looking to turn it their NA copyright into their own franchise.
Especially if the original series is getting a name change here in NA.
In which case we would have two HM series.
One being Marvelous' bokujou monogatari and the other being whatever Natsume decides to have for the JP title for the series.

My guess is that a new sub directory of forums for Story of Seasons (series) would be the best option.

They are. Natsume is developing this.

I know they are developing it.
What I am wondering is if this is backed by Marvelous or is this Natsume making a whole new series using the existing NA name.
As ultimately Natsume's development teams are in Japan. So they will most likely release in JP.
So if this is not a Marvelous produced one, than it can't be called bokujou monogatari in Japan.
So we would essentially be having two separate series diverging from one.

If there are two series...then that would be a good thing? Or a bad thing....?
I suppose it depends on general opinion. Anyway, it would be good to know where Marvelous stands in this whole hullabaloo.
