Out of curiosity, did Elise show the farmer their home in that demo, if anyone knows?
Yes, Elise shows you the farm basics and asks you to do a few basic tasks around the farm including planting some crops and changing your appearance.

It looks like those screencaps are from the same demo.

People thinking these are edits/cuts/fakes is jumping to conclusions way too fast...

Ah thank you so, so much for clarifying!

I know its still Harvest Moon, but it not being called Harvest Moon and not being localized by Natsume.. something inside of me just mourned a little. For me every time I hear Harvest Moon my mind flashes to that little clip in Friends of Mineral Town opening where the boy runs to the center, and whistles with its clinky bit music and the sign dropping on top. Its what makes me super excited for every Harvest Moon game, cause that little bit of memory flashes up bringing with it all its old former joy. Story of Seasons.. nothing. It seems like a new game to me because of the name.
I really hope this doesn't signal a complete change for the series. A name is just a name, but it means a lot.

BUT!!! I really did like RF4. The translations were excellent, the characters had a lot of life and so I can't wait to see what they will do with the game. In a perfect world, we would get XSEED's excellent translating with Harvest Moon as still the title.
It's weird, not being able to call it Harvest Moon anymore. I mean.. 10 games from this series, all called Harvest Moon and now.. -sob sob sob-

What do I call myself? I can't say I"m a Harvest Moon Fan. My identity from since I was 13 (8/9 years ago) is now coming into a crisis. What is life? -despair despair- I'm so conflicted.

Awesome! I always thought Natsume's translations were very bad. There are amateur translations out there that are done a lot better! XSeed however does a great job. Excited! :)

Identify with the Japanese franchise title? That probably won't ever change. lol.

Seriously. All it would take is a simple tweet to XSEED asking them with the deal is and they would have responded. :/

I sometimes wondered if they did it on purpose for comedy's sake after a while.

I think it was just laziness/cheapness honestly. I noticed with games like HM and Witch's Wish, that are supposedly aimed at a younger demographic outside of Japan, or at least advertised as friendly to younger players, Natsume tended to really not do well on the QA, as well as use heavy-handed editing to make it more kid-friendly. But they get away with it because the series has a longstanding name/loyalty, and some of the fans tend to coddle the translation errors/bugs/etc as "charming".

Still rather wish perhaps I had waited on buying the JP version of CNW now, as I bought it assuming Natsume would be translating it and didn't want to play through another ANB translation. But at least I can play it while I wait for the American release.

Yeah, I hope Cher edits her post, because that has serious potential to confuse fans of the series. I never doubted the screens were authentic, so I figured asking here was a good middle ground. (I do follow XSEED Games, but not each employee.)

@Melody: Oh, there goes my conspiracy theory. XP Anyhow, I wonder if anybody else bought the JPN version for the same reason you did.

oh man, this is me all the way. that's the one reason i did buy the japanese version. specifically so i wouldn't have to deal with natsume.

oh well, though, guess im dishing out a little more cash because i cant wait to see the xseed version. my bank account will live.

Same, but I do like to practice my Japanese and get things early. If I'm still in the US when it comes out, I'll buy it, but if I'm in Japan I'll just get it for my sister as a birthday/Christmas present (if it's out by then). And I'll tell all my friends to get it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who did that! But I agree, at least it's good Japanese practice while we wait.

I do have to agree though on the misconception issue though, I think some of the confusion (such as mine earlier, thanks again for correcting me on it) was from Cher's original post.

Either way, I've never had an XSeed game with a translation I didn't like or love overall. They weren't always perfect (I remember a few text alignment issues in RFF, for example) but I never had any problems with them overall. I will definitely be getting this to support the company.

Same here! Though like Fin said, it's great practice too. Definitely going to be shelling out for another copy, and going to be sure to pester some friends to get it as well.
