Natsume owns the title of "Harvest Moon". XSeed can't use that title due to legal reasons. It's just a name no matter how iconic it is. Same game, different title. No worries. Have some faith in XSeed, they're a cool company.

I'm sad but also a bit happy about this.
I'm happy that it wont be "kiddy" anymore (if that makes sense, I'm still half asleep and shocked) and probably more true to the Japanese dialogue.
But I'm sad that Natsume isn't handling it anymore I always loved the translation mistakes no matter how many times I played through it. It was cute to me since the first HM games were cute and it just went with it a bit to me.
I think I'm sad the most about the name change. I know XSeed can't use Harvest Moon because of legal reasons but they could have at least given it a better name than Story of Seasons.
Also I hope they edit the logo a bit, right now it seems a bit too BIG, plain, and just has a boring design. (to me anyways)
It will always be Harvest Moon to me though, even with the name change I'm always going to call it Harvest Moon since that's what I grew up with~
Anyways I'm excited to see the game this winter and will gladly buy it. (Though it will come in second on my currently-playing list seeing as Dragon Age Inquisition will be first <3)

On the hype train people, viva la XSeed! I'm not calling it Story Of Seasons for a long while though. I'm just gonna call it by the game name... So... Yeah... Bokujyou Monogatari ftw. XD
Seriously excited though. And I can buy this from the US too! I knew buying that extra 3DS would work!

I'm not a fan of the logo but it looks like they're trying to keep a similar style to Harvest Moon's logo.

I like the logo; it's got the Harvest Moon logo feel to it, it's a bit more flashy and more decorative than the Harvest Moon logo in my opinion.

^Confusion already is happening; I read an article that was lauding this as a "spiritual successor to HM." Um, it
is Harvest Moon; just under a different name, is all.

Just saw the annoucement that XSeed will be taking over as I was preparing for work so I didn't got the chance to say how happy and sad I was. Happy that we will get the game this year and looking forward to more polished translation, sad because I'm gonna miss the name Harvest Moon. It's pretty bittersweet right now but this news really made my day!

Awesome that XSEED is taking over, although sad for the name change. Pretty excited for the localization now, I wonder how long they'll take to release the game...

Somebody from xseed posted at the Harvest Moon / RF generals over at /vg/ to answer some questions people had / make statements involving the CtNL localization.

Can't really answer everything and will likely sound like a stiff sometimes, but I can cover a couple of things here, at least.
Yeah, if there are future Bokujo Monogatari titles published by XSEED outside of Japan, they will be using the STORY OF SEASONS name.
Yeah, all names have been chosen. Don't know when we'll be able to comment or post most of the names besides the two that are out already, Elise and Fritz.
Nah, no censorship like that. If it's in the Japanese, it's in the English.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's probs not a good thing, haha~
I thought with the art and all, and how most knew about the game before this, that it'd be more confusion of the name.

my friend woke me up from my nap yesterday with this news and I've gotta say i don't think ive ever felt so happy in my entire life :') I'll miss the HM name ofc but id gladly trade off a familiar name for a 300% more quality translation. XSEED never disappoints and this is currently the first time ive ever felt sad the series didn't have voice acting, since while natsume's voices have been decent at best (with rftod as their best example) xseed did spectacularly on rf4's voices. sob
also, y'know, the fact Marian's staying gay and Klaus's suggestive as all hell music fest dialogue isn't going anywhere. thank you based xseed.
