Bob Barker for Wantatan.
I personally don't see any reason for Rega to change, it's technically a real name and it sounds nice. A lot better than Reagan or Reger or Rooga or other weird spellings like that
Lilie is Lilie because her name is pronounced lee-lee-A. It's definitely not the regular Lily name

Yeah, I was wondering about two "flower names", but the only time I've heard it pronounced is by LinandKo, and they pronounce it much more similar to "Lily", which might be a regional dialect thing?
If it is pronounced as Leelee, they should could in all honestly, change it to that. That's a real name too. (A? Not Ah? on the end? Is kind of weird? Maybe? I don't know. I got stuck with April, which I hate, but it is rare to see it in video games, which makes me happy. I tend to like traditional names, and I tend to hate names that sound like "throw a dart at the calendar".)

It's got one of those é things on the end. I forgot my phone let me type them. Lilié. I don't know if it's real in any language or if it's like the Engrish equivalent of French. All I could find was the name of a Japanese salon. The Russian name Lilya is the closest "real name" in intonation but it does end with an "ah" sound so... idk
I don't know who LinandKo are, but I tend to trust my own reading ability with this stuff.

They left some of the crazier names in for RF4 (Porcoline, Volkanon, Vishnal, etc) so I can't really see them changing all too much. They're pretty good about keeping names that the fans use. They totally trolled us with Vishnal's name though.. they tweeted his name was going to be "Vance" and the forum was FREAKING out. But then they said it was Vishnal and that they were just kidding soon afterwards. It was pretty hilarious xD We were also really worried about Dylas changing into Dylan too.
Yeah, Wantatan says "wan" (woof/bark) at the end of his sentences.
It's really annoying imo So I'm interested in seeing how they will end up doing that.
Also, I updated the FAQ in my general discussion thread:
http://www.fogu.com/hmforum/viewtopic.p ... 1#p5109199 let me know if there's anything else I should put in there.

the only name i'm honestly curious about is Menou, since even if they pull a Kohaku/Amber and use the direct translation for her name, Agate just... doesn't sound very good as a name? and Menou doesn't really fit the more Western, Germanic setting, especially since she's a native to Oak Tree. i do have faith in XSEED, though!
lilie's name will be interesting too, i didn't know it was pronounced lee-lee-ah that's really pretty
oh man this is great, thank you rope! hopefully people'll check here now instead of asking all over the place why SoS.

Ah, I didn't realize there was an accent mark for Lilié. My middle name is supposed to be Renée, it does change it into an "a" sound, and also suggests you should pronounce the name with French inflections. (My parents are silly and spelled it wrong though.)
Like I said, given how XSEED is handling everything that I have seen so far, I will undoubtedly be pleased with whatever the final names are.

If that's the way her name is pronounced, it'll be interesting to see how they translate. I hope they don't translate it to Lily now, though.
As for the Wantatan thing, I think they should change his name (or at least the 'wan' he always says) to something more along the lines of 'ruff' or 'bark'. Or just take out his little catchphrase althoghether and just call him 'Fido' or something (though that wouldn't be as fun).

Liliya is a name that I think sounds similar to Lillie (with the symbol). Maybe?
As for our beloved dog costumed mystery man, I hope they keep the wans at the end (as barks or ruffs or woofs ofc). It may be annoying but if it is in the original I want it in the English as much as possible.

I agree, it gives him character, and I want him to be as annoying or odd in the English version as he is in the original. Also, Liliya is a beautiful name, in my opinion.

Liliya would probably be our best bet for the English translation, true. I never said outright that I wanted the 'wans' removed from Wantatan's dialogue, just that they might. I would like them to keep it though, it gives him more personality.

About the troll on twitter asking for random stuff.
I doubt making « Mayor Thomas » appear from a lake by throwing stuff at it and having him being the single most useless deity ever would be well received by the general public.

@Marinneta & Lon - Thanks guys! :D if anyone has anything they think I should add, just lemme know.
Yeah, Wantatan is annoying imo, but I'd rather them be faithful to his character in the localization which I know they will be. Luckily you don't have to see him all that often xD
