I wanna know how they'll translate wantatan.

I'm not sure, but I believe his(?) name is staying the same. I could be wrong though.

I wrote out a really long reply to this but then Ushi errored and froze up for ages, so here is my guess on that in a shorterened version.

So I assuming it will stay Wantatan, but if they change it I believe it will be to one of two things:
Barkie: Wan-wan is the onomatopoeia for a dog barking in Japanese (definitely small dogs, not sure about big ones), and, tan is a childish deformation of "chan". So wantatan can be seen as a child trying to say "wan-wan-tan".
Bark-bark (or Barkbabark): Same above for wan-wan, but repeated different because I could see tatan being a simple rhyming play on the phrase wan-wan.

I think it'd be a little too weird to leave. it's one thing to have an obviously Asian character with an Asian name, but a mystery guy in a dog suit? especially with his name being a pun, it'd be weird for them to leave it in (not only being confusing, but also, don't they like leaving puns in the games? I'd think they'd want to translate the pun so English-speaking fans can enjoy it too without having to look it up)

but where have you guys gotten this info from? I didn't think they'd said anything on him yet? was it a slip of the tongue in a larger post that I missed?

Gotten what info? I don't think his name has been posted anywhere, which is why we are speculating. As for the wan-wan and tan stuff, that's just from me knowing Japanese.

sorry, I think I misread something. I could have sworn someone said they had read somewhere (ie gotten the info) that his name was staying as-is.

I know where your ideas came from, I just thought someone said they'd gotten actual confirmed info^^

I was amazed too and I'm an artist (if i can really call myself that) so now I want the game even more than I did before if that's even possible.

But now I'm confused at the end the reporter said that SOS comes out this fall but I thought that before they said that it was coming out in winter or was that tlv?

I think they were getting the release windows mixed up with TLV.
December to early next year was the window XSeed gave.
Where as TLV was given a September to November window.

A quick Story of Seasons related question here: There's a Festival judge that goes by the name of Wantatan. He's a rather memorable fellow to say the least... Will his name be staying as Wantatan or will it be some other dog related pun? And on an unrelated note, Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed is a really awesome title for a game. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to brawling and stripping my way through Akihabara.

His name is Woofio, because ‘wan’ is like ‘woof’ and it is cute. :9
