what are the best fishing spots?
Well during Typhoons, I think the highest Konohana area is best as you can catch Tuna there. In Blizzards, you can catch Morey Eels and Flounders in the mid-mountain Konohana area not near the waterfall.
In general, the first area is best once you've got the master fishing rod, as you can get big fish all year round which are great for earning money. Before then, under the waterfall is best, as for at least half the year Special Shishamo are fairly common, and worth more that most fish you catch with the normal fishing rod.

Haha, this is my specialty! \(^ㅂ^)/
But really, I go fishing all the time, since it's actually really profitable in this game, really easy, and really enjoyable. So I can pass on a few tricks of the trade (*cough cough arrogance*)
Inside each spoiler will be a seasonal list of fish for each fishing spot. All info comes from the UNoT page on fishing for ToTT, so I apologize if there are any mistakes made.
A Simple Key:
Regular Text: Catch with Fishing Rod
Bold: Catch with Master Rod
Italics: Catch anywhere in any season with either rod
Red: ★★★★★ Sells for 600G or less
Blue: ★★★★★ Sells from 601G-800G
Black: ★★★★★ Sells from 801G-2000G
Green: ★★★★★ Sells for 2001G and up
(King fish are in Red because you can't sell them. I didn't include wonderfuls because you can only get them once between each wish.)
Bluebell High
Kono High
Kono Mid Waterfall
Kono Mid Stream
According to this...
Spring: Kono Mid S is the best place to fish. Avoid Bluebell High (cheap fish) and Kono Mid W (cheap fish and Dragon Carps ALL THE TIME)
Summer: Kono Mid S again, unless it's a typhoon, then Bluebell High. Avoid Kono Mid W (cheap fish), and be sure to get some 4000G fish fossils!
Fall: Ehh... this one's kinda hard... I would stay in Bluebell High and get the Large Killifish, but they honestly all kinda suck. Bluebell High sucks a bit less than the rest. Avoid Kono Mid S (little variety; most of them are cheap)
Winter: Kono Mid W is the best. If it's a blizzard, Kono Mid S. Avoid Bluebell High and Kono Mid S (if it's not a blizzard)
I hope this helps! Poor Kono High is so average... Plenty of the time, you'll be stuck with the neverending, common, and painfully cheap Black Basses and the like, but this is the potential I see in each, at least. It's up to you how your fishing journey goes down, and of course remember that every fishing spot (except Kono Mid S in the winter with no blizzard) has some good fish in it; it's just that the larger amount of boring fish make it less profitable than the other spots.
