On Wild Animals...

This is driving me insane. On the game guide it says there's a 5% chance of triggering an event from befriended wild animals where they give you their specific item x10, right? Does that mean I can keep running back and forth between the town and forest until I get it? Or if I don't trigger it, I'm just out of luck for that day? Do I have to walk in from somewhere else to trigger my wild animal (orange boar) event?
Also if anyone wants to send me 30 yams so I don't have to wait until next fall to complete plan #4, that'd be great.

From what happened in my game after I befriended the turtles at the Southern Island and got to ride the turtle ferry, finally.....about the 3rd visit or so after I went back, there were 5 turtles in an arrow formation that triggered a gift event and it was as soon as the opening screen ended. So I think that if you walked into the forest or the river area, if it was time for the event to trigger, then you would know it...Maybe that will help. As far as the yams, I played multiplayer a lot to take care of my animals in the mornings, and someone gave me a yam, which I turned into seeds and kept replanting until I had my 30.....of course you would have to have the maker shed and the seed maker to do that, but it's fun to do!!! Sometimes you get lucky and they give you a seed packet instead of a yam and you don't have to wait for the maker shed. Just my thoughts...

Ah, thank you so much! I'll keep that in mind.
I'd considered that, but getting yams over wifi is a matter of chance. Plus, I'm already at the end of my first fall here, so even if I did get seeds, it'd already be to late.
