I am a little late to this party (and maybe a little lazy). I am sure this may have been mentioned in the past 7 pages, but what does this DLC contain? Why is it important? Does anyone know the price of it?

better late than never :)
as for the price, I don't know the US price, I live in europe and the price here was around 7-8€, so I'm guessing the price will be around that sum.
as for content: it adds a bunch of hairstyles and eye designs you can choose from for the customization. in the "normal" game you can have cats and dogs as pets, with the DLC you get birds and at some point later dragons as well. the main part is, it adds the "origin island" which is an additional place on the map and the story continues a bit more after the main story line. those are like the main things. it also adds some more ranks for you life and the level cap and everything is raised

it's totally worth it. I've already invested like 70 hours in that game, which is a lot more than I normally invest in a non-HM game :)

I've read that the DLC is $8.99 here in the US. To add onto what Ophelia said, here's some more info on the DLC:
My husband should be picking it up for me on his way home today, so I'm pretty excited to get into it :D

Not too sure what I want to start off as. Maybe a tailor, or an angler.

I just picked up my copy and bought the DLC. I'm so overwhelmed with the amount of customization involved that I don't even know if I'm going to play as a girl or a boy.

I think I'm pretty set on being an angler. I always did like fishing in Animal Crossing, maybe it's sort of the same here?

Thanks for the information Ophelia and Kirie!

I was mostly curious because I have 30 bucks of eshop money, didn't know if I should put that towards the game or the DLC, DLC it is. Seems a bit pricey for DLC, but the game does seem to be worth it. I have been reading reviews during my free time (not often) at work. I'll probably pick the game up this weekend. :]

I enjoy the customization, particularly the girl's options. No idea why in some games I can make my avatar a good looking girl or a good looking guy and not both. There's just so many options, but for me there isn't a combination that I loved with the guy's options.

you think I should record my progress somewhere? I'm really curious to see what it would look like writen out, especially if the game has the same fate as RF4 did, the activity log only tells when and how long you played, not what you did in game

and I so plan on doing multiplayer, but not for a while, I want to level up and do things before I start being social on the game, but trust me when I say that wont take long xD

you can actually change your hairstyle and color whenever you want, once you've unlocked it :)
also, if you have the DLC, then at some point after the main story you can change everything about your character except gender.

the game actually kinda records the points in the story and your different lifes. I can take some screenshots and post them if you want and then you can decide whether you want to record it :)

I've just used my second file to create a male character, and I actually find it easier to make something I like. Admittedly, I may be biased due to the fact that I was basing him upon a certain Final Fantasy character, but there just seems to be a nicer range of male-specific clothing for him.

really? cool, depending on what the game records I can figure out what I can let the game handle and what I might want to record myself, the story plots I dont care much for since I hear it can be beaten in 10hours, it's more of the progress of leveling I'm interested in noting down

an hour and 45min left... I could have gone when my mom was out at lunch, but if I wait and go with my grandmother she might also get me a nintendo card....

That's good. I did buy the DLC so that's good to know.

In a game like this I doubt I'll make a second file. When it's something you like of course it'll be easy to make. It just seems like the girl characters are getting far better options in my opinion in this game.
