I have the 3ds version of this game.
I recently restarted my game so I'm early in Spring, 13th.
I'm in the second cooking festival - soup- Inna gave me the ingredients and they both were 5 stars but when i cooked them both to make herb soup. the soup was 4 stars.... I don't get it, why is my cooking decresing the level if both were 5 stars?

your cooking skill also influences the rank of the finished dish I think. and as you are still at the beginning of the game it's not very high

Yeah, since you're in the beginning of the game, your cooking skills won't be very high quality. It doesn't matter what Ina gives you.

Always remember, the more you cook, the better you'll be. (sorry if this doesn't make any sense) I guess I'm trying to say is that.. Work on your cooking skills, if you want to improve.

I also early on wondered about how the final dish's quality would be lower then the ingredients, but this becomes less noticeable as you get better at cooking. Eventually cooking 5 star ingredients nets you 5 star dishes.

If you sell the ingredients she gives you and go make something of what you find in the forest you can have some extra cash at the early stage of the game.

Plus if you fail any of the early cooking comps she may give you seeds you haven't unlocked yet and you could get them a year early.
