Rune Factory 5?

So I know that the copmany that made rune factory went bankrupt or somthing but I was wondering if someone else was ever going to make it?

Rumors were that it was started in production but was never finished. I find this very wierd especially since rf4 was such a huge hit. You would think that SOMEONE would pick it up and continue it since a lot of people seemed to really love the game.

I'm just curious about it. I hope that someday someone will make rf games again.

(I even tried googleing it and it does have posts in 2014 but no real info at all)

While the company that made all the RF's went bankrupt, Marvelous AQL(Neverland's publisher) hired the RF team afterwards. So there's really no reason there can't be RF5, considering they released Kinki no Magna, which they had been working on when Neverland was still running.

The only person I know of that didn't make the transition to Marvelous was the lead programmer of the RF series.

But yeah, there's lots of hope still :D Especially considering how well RF4 sold. The team being with Marvelous now is only a good thing IMO.

kirie, you answered all the questions I didn't even know I had. I've had a really hard time keeping up with all of this company stuff with Neverland and Marvelous.

op, yeah, it's sadly really just rumors right now. We don't have any concrete information on rune factory 5 at all, so yes we have hope! but no we don't have any actual information on a potential new Rune Factory at the moment. but « Harvest Goddess » knows we're all hoping

Glad to help! xD yeah the whole situation was just kind of crazy and confusing. Luckily, it came out with the best possible scenario in having almost all of the RF team devs hired by Marvelous.

Kinki no Magna was made because they wanted to try something new instead of just working on RF because they didn't want to burn out. Kind of a palate cleanser if you will. While it didn't do super hot, they are still supporting it post-release so that's great. Hoping that the "refresher" was good for them and they can hopefully work full speed ahead on the new RF.

One of the reasons that I'm so personally optimistic is the timeline of events.

Nov 2013 - Neverland came out and said they were filing for bankruptcy and ceasing operations. Marv ended up hiring the RF staff very soon afterwards.

Feb 2014 - Marv announced Kinki no Magna, and at that particular point in time the project was 50% complete. They were able to bring over the previous Neverland assets obviously for Kinki to Marvelous when the team moved. The game came out Oct 2014.

Now, if RF5 was in the conceptual phase, or even 10% or more (or less) made at the time, I wouldn't see any reasons that they couldn't have also transferred those assets over when they moved. Of course this is a complete assumption on my part and might not be accurate, but I think it's a very likely scenario. Marv is not going to sit on that cash cow. RF4 (along with Senran Kagura: Burst at the time) was mainly responsible for Marvelous AQL's 2nd quarter profits in 2012 raising 106% more than they expected. That's huge percentage increase. (Even the game being a resounding success couldn't save Neverland from poor monetary management decisions by its superiors, but I digress) The game also sold amazingly well in the NA to the point where XSEED had to restock because it was sold out everywhere. Also shows that it sold so well that they were willing to take the financial risk and take the time and bring RF4 over to EU despite having to jump through a ton of hurdles. While I'm sure that the Japanese fanbase and sales are the main considerations while making and selling the games, obviously very strong overseas sales can do nothing but help the RF cause for potential future releases.

This was stupidly long (sorry!) But I hope this helps people feel a little more hopeful about the situation :D

I have a feeling we'll be hearing something from the RF team in 2015. Just a hunch.

It wasn't stupidly long, I found it quite interesting. You seem very knowledgeable about it (are you sure your not secretly working for them  )

But what I wonder is that if it is indeed true that they make a rf5 why no news has leaked out (I've been a stalker on this forum for a long time and I've noticed how fans can find info about stuff before it is even "officially" posted)

Also (I guess I could ask marvelous -email them or Facebook them or what have you-) but it makes me wonder if anyone has even asked marvelous weather or not they are going to make it or if some other company might make it :/

I would love to ask them somehow but English is not my first (or even second) language and I had to use spell check so many times already I'm surprised it even knows what I was trying to write (sorry if I misspell anything) plus im not even sure where I would even try to ask them about it

Then again they might be closed lip about it...

Hahah, I just keep up on the companies that make games I enjoy, that's all :D my husband is a game developer, but not in Japan.

Well, most likely they haven't announced anything if they are working on it for a few various reasons. They recently released Kinki and announcing a new game like that so soon afterwards isn't necessarily a very smart marketing move. Also, they might still be working on the conceptual phase or at a point where it would be too early to announce. Many companies stay silent until they have an adequate showing. Add to that that the company has had some upheaval with having to move to Marvelous, so some things in the pipeline may have changed. It happens.

With RF4 they announced the game quite early in the development process which lead to ridiculous dry spells when it came to new information. It was really uneven and made a lot of fans grumpy. I'd personally rather them announce it closer to its potential release.

Even if you asked them in a letter, I'm 99.9% positive they wouldn't respond. It's just how these companies work. We just have to be patient. ^^

Agreeing with Kirie on all counts. If it gets made, it's almost 100% certain that it's Marvelous who will make it, because Marvelous owns the rights. They could sell them, but it's a cash cow and there's really no reason for them to sell it.

There was a 3 year gap between RF3 and RF4, so assuming that the finance shenanigans drag it out by a bit, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear anything about RF5 until later this year or even early next year.

I hope they make another RF for Wii, or WiiU now I guess. Frontier and Tides of Destiny are still my favorites. Love how detailed they can make the environment and town. RF4 on console would be gorgeous.

Well from what I read, back when it was (or possibly still is) in production it was going to made for a handheld. I would like to see an RF game back on a home console again. Loved the graphics, but unless we hear about RF5 first I doubt they will make one for the WiiU any time soon. (Plus I don't have one yet so if they do make it for the WiiU ill need to buy that first)

It would be great on the Wii U with the whole Backpack on the tablet for instance! Maybe the PS4 is the better way to earn lots of cash with a game.. I don´t know..
I´m also longing for an new RF game, so I hope that marvelous is busy programming!
