My banking is on another branching family. So that instead of having just two straight mutation paths (like the hot pepper family) it's more like a tree split from the base crop, and then the 2nd or 3rd gen mutation has multiple mutations. Personally banking on Bell (the color!), Magic, or Red if it's not Purple pepper. In that order. Most likely with a fert or soil (or both) restriction, and most likely in Summer. The ferts unattached to any mutations are wheat, barley, peach, and goby. There are no other REQUIRED ferts in the Green Pepper mutation family, but MommaKat found that using Apple/Orange/Tomato and the Organic composts seemed to help Magic->White peppers by about 20%. Being as tomato is technically a fruit, I would not be surprised if maybe Peach turns out to be useful in this mutation, but the list of double-dipping ferts (ferts REQUIRED for more than one mutation) is decent so who knows.

And I think Summer because:

Harvest Goddess request pattern is:
Spoiler:
Goddess' Guidance 1
3 Savoy Spinach (Spring)

Goddess' Guidance 2
3 Great Strawberry (Spring)

Goddess' Guidance 3
3 Durum Wheat (Summer)
3 Barley (Fall)

Goddess' Guidance 4
3 Ultimate Milk
3 Ultimate Eggs

Goddess' Guidance 5
3 Black Bread (Winter, for Rye)
3 G. Strawberry Jam (Spring)

Goddess' Guidance 6
3 Great White Pepper (Spring)
3 Great Golden Pepper
And Tabitha has a Summer request for Golden (Bell) Peppers. Most of the main request chains seem to follow a seasonal rotation pattern, while the seasonal requests do not always reflect their season. If Tabitha had requested the Golden (Bell) Peppers and the Goddess' request cycle showed Golden Peppers in another part of the cycle, I would only give a little weight to Tabitha's seasonal request. The fact that there's 2 double-spring request items going down the list, the first followed by a seasonal shift, and the second occurring only after a spin back around from Winter, makes me think that Summer is very STRONGLY likely.

And that's my two bits for the day.

I know I stated this before, but I personally think that while Cross Pollination is not a trigger, it does increase the chances of a specific mutation.

I just got back after like a week so I'm still a bit mixed up. At least we have a clue to Giant Pumpkins! Seems a lot of pictures were added and those Titan Potatoes are enourmous!

That makes all 4 seasons at those elevations with all fertilizers. I conclude it's highly unlikely that golden peppers come from purple.

Ok, there are 3 choices here, investigate a possible 3rd branch, try Purple Peppers in more places, or pursue White Peppers.

On the good side, I happened to remember my old file at the end of Summer so planting Pumpkins right after the fields turn Swampy! Gonna use Compost on half while the other half will have nothing on it.(and yes it is Fall I'm now in)

Failed Experiment tabs are all current. I'll be making the "In search of Golden Pepper" sheet like I had for Angel Lanterns when I get home from school.

Double post so people can see the update:

I actually literally used the Angel Lantern sheet (sorry anyone that bookmarked it! But we DID discover angel lanterns already so... ;) ), but I changed it up a bit. Now each of the 4 soil types has their own tab with the 4 seasons in it. I did this because we now know that Patchy does have some mutations that prefer specifically it (Looking at you Black Potato... ) and because this way I can just list which fertilizers have been used at that elevation in that soil, since we've now got a better grasp on fertilizers as well. If it's too confusing, I can condense, but this way is just more accurate for exposure to fert and soil types used. It actually shows how relatively little has been looked! Yes Cradke tried a lot of ferts/seasons and all the core elevation ranges... But very little soil variety! And that's JUST in the Purple Pepper experiment. All other pepper seed experiments are low.

Nice idea! That's definitely more organized and easier to read ^^ Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be playing TLV again until probably the next DLC pack. *coughSoScough* I'll still be keeping up with this forum though, and updating the topic as new info comes in.

Gut instinct says that Golden Peppers are a fall mutation. We have a pepper mutation in every other season, but none in fall.
