Harvest Flowers in Rune Factory 4

I am not able to figure out how to harvest flowers in Rune Factory 4. I have tried the sickle and I have tried a sword. All it does is cut it like grass. I would appreciate if anyone would please help me figure this out.

When you grow flowers you pick them up just like you would with a crop (a button) they have to be fully grown (they will have an arrow above them.) if you are talking about wild plants such as the herbs it's still the same. Now if you are talking about the random blue flowers that show up then yes you use the sickle/sword on it. Those are rune flowers and you can sell them they just refill your rp. After you hack them you will see a glowing light walk into it and some of your rp will be filled.

The farm grown flowers you use you sword/sickle on is bamboo shoots ( which isn't a flower but you do need to sickle it) ironleaf, and I think the crystal flowers (dont remember if you need ti sickle those or not but I think so), use the b button to hack at them then use the a button to pick it up.
