File randomly deleting?

I turned on my 3ds to play my copy of HM Sunshine Islands and when I went to continue my save file, all I could choose was new game. I'm using a legit hard copy of the game that I bought. Not a emulator or whatnot. And I didn't turn the game off while saving. Anybody else have this issue? It's frustrating after playing it a good while. Just makes me not want to play it ever again.

I remember this has been a recurring issue with cartridge hm games:

It could be if you use AR, if you played for a long span of time without saving, etc. there is a really good plausible explanation on page two of that thread. Someone really knows their stuff about cartridges.
Basically my tip is to try and save at least once an hour.
