Actually, HM is pretty good about picking crops that grow in snow and frost in real life. I'm a professional gardener and I've always been impressed by HM/SoS's crop selections for seasons overall. It's not perfect ofc but it's pretty good.Meriberry wrote:Well, that would help explain why it's possible to grow things outdoors in winter.Lieicent wrote:Oh man I agree on that. Ofc we don't see this kind of thing in RL with large farms because winter is a good season to let crops go fallow profit wise.
I heard spinach grows well against frost and it even makes it sweeter.Melody Muse wrote:Actually, HM is pretty good about picking crops that grow in snow and frost in real life. Yep! Spinach, kale, lettuce, and many leafy vegetables all have multiple variants that grow well in cold temps. Especially for the decorative types. (I'd love to grow those in HM/SoS. Pretty lettuce "flowers"!)Lieicent wrote:I heard spinach grows well against frost and it even makes it sweeter.Melody Muse wrote:Actually, HM is pretty good about picking crops that grow in snow and frost in real life. Oh haha. Yeah, it's a mix job for the science department of my college. My main job is gardening for our native plant garden, but we also have a reptile rescue thing that I get to help with for extra hours. So that's where the snakes come from. And I also do some lab tech stuff when needed. So if you hear me complain about TSAs or other science stuff that's why haha.Samurott wrote:oh wow Mel, i didn't know that! I just knew that you worked with snakessss...reptilians aghh i forgot lol ^^;
i really like how they have such a wide variety, but it's like do i want a pretty farm or more crop space...conquesting all the fields is sounding more tempting...
@Touchmon: Are you using fertilizer on all your crops or just what you are ranking up for seeds? It's more efficient to just fertilize a few crops at a time and turn them into seeds instead of fertilizing everything. If that helps.

At least we can have more than one barn on each side of land, but yeah, it was unnecessary to reduce this number.SakuraMota wrote:Something I noticed while doing some planning today:
SoS has more animal varieties than it's predecessor (ANB), yet the barns hold fewer animals (8 vs 10). My life would be so much easier if they held 10. x.x
I'm annoyed that I have to press A for everything like opening doors and such.
^ This. I wanted at least a different dialogue after that...Blue Leafeon wrote:Raeger. I'm not in your kitchen. And neither are you. Stop acting like you are and telling me to get out. </3
I'm a little annoyed that the names of traders don't show up when it's someone's birthday on a particular day...but it is a minor annoyance after all, so I just check anyway to see who's around.
Welp, that's good to know nowkenzo wrote:It does show up. Edit: Actually, I just tried it and it didn't work out for me...maybe I'm doing something wrong.

That is a help, but I don't want to have 3 barns just to have 2 of each. :c So much running around.lostsongs wrote:At least we can have more than one barn on each side of land, but yeah, it was unnecessary to reduce this number.SakuraMota wrote:Something I noticed while doing some planning today:
