Shame they're nothing but baby-shaped bed ornaments at the moment. Can't even interact with them--it asks me if I want to go to bed. Hmph! And Cher says in her guide that they'll be like this for two months. Joy.
Also, after doing the math for exactly how much small lumber/lumber I need to unlock ice/tropical country/the safari areas, I have come to the conclusion that SoS is 90% responsible for global warming. :D LOOK AT ALL THESE TREES WE'RE CUTTING DOWN GUYS. I don't care if most of said trees are ones we grow ourselves. I'm just trying to take the edge off of my annoyance by joking around.
Oh man I agree on that. Even though I bought a bunch of lumber it still was not enough.
Well, that would help explain why it's possible to grow things outdoors in winter.

Actually, HM is pretty good about picking crops that grow in snow and frost in real life. I'm a professional gardener and I've always been impressed by HM/SoS's crop selections for seasons overall. It's not perfect ofc but it's pretty good.

Ofc we don't see this kind of thing in RL with large farms because winter is a good season to let crops go fallow profit wise.

I admit, I live way up north, to the point of nothing grows in winter unless you have a greenhouse, or bring plants indoors. (Other than pine trees. PLENTY of those. XD)

I hate needing to make so many freaking wallpapers that I think I've destroyed an entire rainforest. x_x

I heard spinach grows well against frost and it even makes it sweeter.

Yep! Spinach, kale, lettuce, and many leafy vegetables all have multiple variants that grow well in cold temps. Especially for the decorative types. (I'd love to grow those in HM/SoS. Pretty lettuce "flowers"!)

I've got a new annoyance. How much energy it takes to use fertilizer. -_- Using about 20 drains my stamina so much. So cannot wait until I can make the accessories for stamina recovery.

Oh haha. Yeah, it's a mix job for the science department of my college. My main job is gardening for our native plant garden, but we also have a reptile rescue thing that I get to help with for extra hours. So that's where the snakes come from. And I also do some lab tech stuff when needed. So if you hear me complain about TSAs or other science stuff that's why haha.

@Touchmon: Are you using fertilizer on all your crops or just what you are ranking up for seeds? It's more efficient to just fertilize a few crops at a time and turn them into seeds instead of fertilizing everything. If that helps.

Something I noticed while doing some planning today:

SoS has more animal varieties than it's predecessor (ANB), yet the barns hold fewer animals (8 vs 10). My life would be so much easier if they held 10. x.x

At least we can have more than one barn on each side of land, but yeah, it was unnecessary to reduce this number.

I'm annoyed that I have to press A for everything like opening doors and such.

^ This. I wanted at least a different dialogue after that...

I'm a little annoyed that the names of traders don't show up when it's someone's birthday on a particular day...but it is a minor annoyance after all, so I just check anyway to see who's around.

It does show up. You need to press Y to flip the calendar to the next page.

Welp, that's good to know now :) Thank you very much! One less thing on my lack of list right now~

Edit: Actually, I just tried it and it didn't work out for me...maybe I'm doing something wrong.

That is a help, but I don't want to have 3 barns just to have 2 of each. :c So much running around.
