Starting over & When does this game pick up?
So I just played through Spring 16 in my boy file and I'm pretty uninterested in the bachelorettes, but I *love* Klaus, so I'm starting a girl file in Slot 2.
My question is, when does this game start picking up? I've been able to get the goals they give you (upgrade your farm, get the horse, etc) within 1-2 game days every time. I just got the horse. What can I do to push this further? I feel like there's no plot. Is it time-based? I'm going to bed by 6-7PM every day because I have nothing left to do.
I could make my own goals with blueprints, but I can't find any regular lumber or stones, even by breaking things on the ground. I also can't seem to figure out how to actually hit trees with my axe.
I suspect my dissatisfaction has something to do with playing Seedling mode, so I'll switch to original for my new file as well.

Honestly, for me, normally around fall. The safari opens up, you get the mining point within the safari and then you can really start upgrading all your stuff so much easier which makes the game more fun imo. Also in addition to that you'll have a lot more trade vendors, so you are able to make money much more consistently.
Then in year 2 your get the last set of characters showing up (Dessie in particular is adorable) you can get married then, have kids, get more animals, etc, so that helps break up stuff.
There really isn't a story (which is one of the biggest complaints I have against the game) but as soon as I just started to lay back and relax and play the game for what it is, I had a lot of fun with it and creating my own goals and super farm.

I am playing in seedling mode, have just reached 1st day of summer. Even in seedling mode you have to whack the trees a hella lot. Same with the big rocks.
I just made the seed maker shed and the coop. Between foraging, swimming, handing out prezzies, managing the crops/animals, I don't usually get to bed in game til 2300 hrs or later. That's unsung the horse which speeds up travel a lot.

How can you tell that you're actually hitting the trees? The rocks break in stages after a while, so I've had no trouble with rocks on my farm, but when I've tried to break wild rocks it just looks like I'm hitting the ground under them and dirt flies up? When I try to hit the trees, I just do the spinny cyclone thing, there's no sound effect or animation that tells me I'm actually hitting it.K8sMum wrote:I am playing in seedling mode, have just reached 1st day of summer. And thanks, Kirie, that's all really good information... Are the sprites Year 2 as well? Otmar keeps mentioning the forest having some magical creatures in it or something, and I can see that there's an area where items are spawning that I can't reach, but it's blocked off by said tree-that-does-not-respond-to-axe.

I met the sprites in Spring when the roads to the fields opened up. I just walked in and they were there.
Regarding the trees...you just stand near and keep whacking by hitting A button repeatedly, after each swing. You'll get a message that 'you are almost there' or some such and some more whacks and the tree falls.

I had to enter the new field I rented after unlocking it before they'd show up, then they appeared a second time when I accidentally ran into the other opened field directly under Eda's farm, but I'm not sure if it matters which field you enter first or not. If it does, then the field you rent during the rental tutorial would be the area to make them show up.RopeMaidenKirie wrote:No problem!
You should be able to unlock the sprites after you finish the conquest tutorial near late spring, and then the new areas by your farm will open up and you should get an event with them when the weather is sunny. I can't remember which exact area it is though that they show up :<

Ahh, thank you very much for the information! I'm not that far on my current file and I couldn't remember it from my Japanese file which I played ages ago, so this really helps.Kelpy wrote: I had to enter the new field I rented after unlocking it before they'd show up, then they appeared a second time when I accidentally ran into the other opened field directly under Eda's farm, but I'm not sure if it matters which field you enter first or not.
