Fire Emblem Fates- Released!- Heavy spoiler warning! Beware!
I'm so glad there are 9 save files because I'm gonna need to make so many avatars with all those options (though no skin colour sucks) but also because I got into FE fairly recently (got Awakening for Christmas, so I've only just started my second file, it's also the only one I've played (all the older ones are so expensive whhhhy)) but I want to play Awakening at least twice more and it's sad thinking that I'll have to save over one of my files...but with 9 files I can play Hoshido, Nohr and DLC with both male and female avatars and still have spare slots. I am all on board with this!
Not sure about the weapon usage going, I quite liked that added little bit of challenge (or panic in my case) in Awakening, but it will be nice not to have to bulk buy Thorons for my mages to restock all the time. Plus I trust that this means a slightly different approach to weapon decision/use will be needed, which will bring all new challenges, whee!

The full developer interview was translated completely by some very nice person: https://kantopia.wordpress.com/2015/05/ ... w-5132015/
Some things of note:
Neat interview.
Some things of note:
We've heard this before, but they are reiterating that it sounds like Hoshido will be like Awakening in the victory conditions, and Nohr is going to be more strategic overall.Maeda: In “Hoshido”, one can freely engage in battles and level up their units, and the victory conditions are very simple. On the other hand, “Hohr” has limited chances to gain experience and limited resources. The strategy revolves around “what is the best way to raise these units?” The victory conditions in battles vary, such as chapters with limited turns, or to attack/defend an objective, etc. It is much deeper tactically.
Um. Yeah I'm not going to mind buying both copies if this is true. That's crazy.Yokota: The volume of chapters and story in “Hoshido,” “Nohr,” and the third scenario are all the length of Awakening. All are downloadable too, so we aimed to give a considerable amount of content.
Interesting... wonder what it'll be?–The story splits into two paths along the way in this game. Is the story up until Chapter 6 the same then?
Maeda: It is the same until then. You will be able to begin challenging maps and raising characters from Chapter 7 onward in “Hoshido.”
Higuchi: There is a system sort of like the “Arena” in place, but different this time around. Rather than earning experience, you fight to earn a different sort of component. Please wait for follow up information on this in the future.
Aqua can use it too; makes sense.Yokota: Dragon Pulse is a special power of Dragons that serves as a map gimmick. It is put to use by the Main Character and Aqua, as well as 8 different characters between the two kingdoms. It changes the map in various ways, such as transforming deserts to grassy plains, or drawing water from the sea.
Neat interview.
In the older style Fire Emblems, I always chose to focus on a handful of units and let most of the rest of them to rot. I found this was sometimes the best way to approach things instead of taking risks with everyone.
I specifically remember in my playthrough of Heroes of Light and Shadow Xane, Est, MU, Marth, and Bantu were the only units I trained.
I have a feeling that my Nohr playthrough will be very similar.

you know for the black and white scheme I wonder if the representation is death? cause hoshido (looks like japan) is white, and nohr (looks european) is black? who knows thoughXD
I am glad to hear that it's not that one culture is the perfect peoples while the other is evil conquering nation that laughs it's butt off in the process of doing something evil. Even if this game doesn't have romance, I would be happy with social-links concerning friendships instead, it would make for interesting conversations, I would still like some romantic characters but more because they make sense, since awakening's weird marriage conversations worked cause of future children and entertaining conversation.
Can't wait to hear more, thanks for all the info as well Kirie!

That would be me and I am from Serenesforest. Please, next time, do not diss my home. Thank you <3RopeMaidenKirie wrote:The full developer interview was translated completely by some very nice person: https://kantopia.wordpress.com/2015/05/ ... w-5132015/
Anyway, if you wish to have my imput about the matter, I would not count out the possibility of marrying the royal siblings. Hint hint

Uhm. I am not dissing the website (I am on there too as a member, you know) I am dissing the people using disgusting language towards others, which is very childish like I said before. Huge difference. Someone telling someone else that they are "a cancer" is pretty disgusting. It's obviously not indicative of the website as a whole as there's very kind and nice people on there that actually know how to talk constructively to one another, but a few people are really are acting like children with some of this recent news. I stand by my previous statement.
Either way though, it's my opinion and I am certainly allowed to have it, just as you are yours.

Hmmmm. Cravat-man! Hopefully he's not somehow related ;_; lol. Tsubaki would be another one that I like a lot at first glance. If "family" wasn't/isn't an issue, I'd definitely say Leon. Really really like his design!Mimika wrote:so if you guys could s-support with anyone so far who do you like best?
out from guys i like marx![]()
from girls i like camilla
For girls I would also say Camilla.. if she wasn't/isn't related. She sounds really sweet and protective. I don't really like her armor, but I like her overall design. Besides that, I really like Orochi's design a lot, so her for sure.
Since there's a lot of files, I might actually be able to make a male MU this time around which is reaaaally exciting.
Definitely Camilla for girls! Aqua would be next though, but first if I can't S Rank family.Mimika wrote:so if you guys could s-support with anyone so far who do you like best?

For guys...I don't know! Either Leon or Marx. If I can't S Rank Family...Saizou.
I like the people of Nohr.

In the article, it says that along with you and Aqua, 8 other characters are able to use Dragon Pulse (and says they're royal ones), so I assume that'll be the Nohr/Hoshido siblings, thus putting more chances that they are, in fact, you're siblings and that both sides are descendants from dragons.
Now, could all be descendant from dragons but not necessarily as closely related; buuuuut idk.
Looks wise, I'd go for Marx or Hinoka/Camilla. Although my intuition/past experiences tell me that I'd probably end up falling for lobster samurai sonic headgehog.

What do you mean "hint, hint" Did the interview imply something? If so, then count me in for the hype train!Anonymous Fish wrote:That would be me and I am from Serenesforest. Also, on the topic of marriage, I am SO going for Leon and Marx first! I mean, even if they are your adopted siblings, if Kamui was old enough to remember his/her Hoshido siblings (judging by the scene with Hinoka crying) then it's possible that they were adopted at a later (maybe 10+?) age, thus being less like siblings and more like "family-like childhood friends".
I would be surprised if we can't S Rank Family. Sacred Stones had several Family S ranks and if this game isn't going the "everybody gets hitched" road again, they're probably be a few in there. Thats what I feel anyways.Ronin19 wrote: Definitely Camilla for girls! Aqua would be next though, but first if I can't S Rank family.

The only canon incest in the series has been in FE4, where it was a big plot point (and used to make you feel absolutely disgusted with the situation; they are half-siblings) and there was one case of cousin-cest I believe as well (which is apparently legal in Japan). In FE:A you can work out a few pairs that are incest if you pair up the right people, but it's more of a by-product and oversight of the pairing up system imo, although I guess you could technically say they are "canon" within your game.
It's a huge running joke in the fandom that incest is EVERYWHERE in the games, when most of it is more of people assuming. It's never explicitly said or canon, and many people just run with it. Like Ephraim and Eirika in SS, where I've seen some people say it's incest, but I never once honestly got that vibe, and didn't even think about it until I saw people mentioning it on the internet x_X Still don't agree with it whatsoever, personally.
That being said however, if they do allow it in this game, I can't see them allowing one side to be able to over the other. I think if the Nohr royalty is able to be romantically S-ranked, then the Hoshido side will too because that would cause an uneven amount of supports unless they make up for it with other characters. In which they would probably be using the "I'm not really your blood relative!" plot point.
------
One thing I'm really looking forward to, is seeing how the characters attitudes change towards you when you're doing the opposing route. It's going to be fun seeing your favorites characters potentially acting like jerks towards you xD
