How many barns and chicken coops are players allowed to have on their farms?

4 barns, and 4 coops.

Where do those numbers come from? You're only allowed one barn and one coop in each section of your farm, and there's three sections total when you've unlocked everything. In other words, a max of three of each.

To fill them up, though, would make for a LOT of animals. You wouldn't have time for much else in a day, even if you used Multiplayer to do your animal care.
