I know there are people who are playing it. But even amongst those people, I still see a lot of negative opinions about the game overall. Am I the only one who actually really, really likes this game?

Note I am not saying it's perfect, I'm just saying that despite its flaws, I really enjoy it. I really love the direction that they have taken it, and I think with a few tweaks (more mutation info, bit faster on the harvesting, maybe let us upgrade our skill with a tool, GET RID OF FOGGY DAYS), the next game could be absolutely fantastic. TLV feels a lot like the older HM games, which I prefer to the newer type of games (I'm still playing SOS too, though speed-farming just feels WEIRD to me!).

You're not alone, I loved The Lost Valley. It's even my favorite Harvest Moon game in the series (though I still prefer the Harvest Moon games :P ).

I love being able to just focus on my farm and nothing else, plus terraforming is pretty fun too. Sure the game has its flaws (dead « Harvest Goddess » I hate the Harvest Sprites schedules and how they need to take breaks.) but it's still really, really fun. Already put in 50 hours so far, can't wait to see the next Harvest Moon Natsume has up their sleeves!

Same poster, I meant that I preferred the Rune Factory games over Harvest Moon.

I think, many people have mistaken TLV for a "real" harvest moon game, because of the name, so they started playing with to high expectations.

When TLV got announced in the US, I was aware of this fact and thought, it would look to much like Minecraft, but could be fun to play.
But I have to admit, Iwas more intrested in SoS.

So I waited for SoS...and waited...and waited till TLV was on sale and the price for shipping to europe was ok.

As far as I played, I like it, but there are things, I really miss (a village, some hints for mutations, better bachelors/bachelorettes) but I enjoy playing it. I really like the mutations and the terraforming and hope, Natsume is going on implementing the given criticism, like they do with the dlc (I would really like, if they make Gareth and Tabitha marriage candidates).

I'm so glad I am not alone! ^_^ I agree that the game is flawed, but overall, I really love the direction. And I think Natsume really is listening to what people have to say, so I think the next entry could be something really fantastic.

Even as it is, I really enjoy playing this game. My only REAL complaint is the lack of in-game knowledge/direction for obtaining mutations (Oh...and FOG). Other than sheer dumb luck, you're never going to get those figured out without the internet--and since there are still mutations we HAVEN'T figured out to do...yeah. Straighten that out so that I have SOME clue as to how to produce them other than just vague "Sometimes high, sometimes low...try one of the 15 fertilizers!", and we're GOLDEN.

I don't know realistically how much can be patched in, so I don't know if I'd hold my breath for particular marriage candidates, but since they are listening to the fans you can be pretty sure that similar candidates from the next game will almost certainly be available :).

I sorta want to marry Doc. Why? Because he makes me laugh. I usually sort of ignore marriage in HM/RF games until it's required. Then I go for the quirkiest candidate available. I always go for Daria in RF3, because RAINBOW! LOL Last run I named our kid RAINBOW....

CeeCee hinted, that one of the remaining two dlcs will have to do with love and marriage, so I really hope they make some more characters marriage candiates.

Tabitha has a blushing animation and many fans would love to marry them.

I really don´t regrett the buy.

Oooh, I must have missed that one! Niiiiice :).

I actually bought a second copy. I wanted to play as a boy as well, but I really use both saves. Plus, sometimes my husband will take my 3DS off for Streetpasses while he does errands (my first copy is digital). Since I have a spare console, now I'll be able to keep farming while he wanders aimlessly. I kid you not on that last bit...I sent him off for In-n-Out and he was gone for 2 hours. "What happened?" "I was watching them try to catch a mylar balloon tangled in a tree." "FOR 2 HOURS?" "Well, I was trying to help them catch it, too...." Sadly, that is not an atypical conversation.

I consider myself a fan; I invested ~500 hours into this game and wrote a couple of mini-guides for it. I don't think anyone is saying it's perfect, but SoS is hardly perfect either (just take a look at the minor annoyances thread, which contains quite a lot of "major" annoyances too). The digging/placing dirt and terraforming my valley was something I really missed from TLV. I was able to do a lot of work toward getting my valley the way I wanted starting from early in the game, whereas in SoS I can't really work toward making my farm beautiful until I'm rolling in blueprints and crafting mats. And if I thought TLV had pacing issues, my gosh, SoS has WORSE pacing issues IMHO. At least everything in TLV is unlocked by Year 2. In SoS you spend long periods of time bored to tears only to be inundated with a bunch of stuff unlocked at once, and too many things take too ridiculously long. Cool stuff like the Ferris wheel don't even unlock until you're far enough in the game that you don't even need it anymore. AND REVERSE PROPOSALS, OMG. I'm just lucky that the two bachelors I targeted first have easy to moderately easy favorite dishes @_@ I miiiight go for Cam's reverse proposal just because I was always sad he didn't have a reverse in ToTT but no. one. else. Especially not Nadi or Fritz.

...I really am a fan, I pinky swear.

Agreed, again. I love both games, but they really could both learn a lot from each other.

I think the massive length of time needed to unlock even fairly basic stuff in SOS is really putting me off in some ways. Yes, when I start it up I play for hours; but it's getting harder to start up knowing how long I need to wait to get stuff to say, make the outfit I want for my character. Plus there is just so. much. other. stuff. that it feels like I should be doing besides farming...and I just wanna farm. I feel rather lukewarm about SOS, and I put 200+ hours in both ANB and RF4. SOS...I don't WANT to make garden decorations, I don't, I don't, I don't! LOL

Weirdo that I am, I also think I prefer the art direction in TLV. I know, I know, most people HATE it. But the characters look like Blythe dolls, and I collect those. Even the husband said it. He looked at the box and asked me if they were supposed to be "Blythe Farmers".

I couldn't get into it when I tried to play, but that was also right after being fairly disappointed by ToTT and I didn't want to commit any more real time to HM games. So I didn't give it a fair chance.

I wasn't sure I was going to buy SoS (I missed ANB - which I regret and will end up buying later) but I did and I love it. Once I finish SoS I am going to give TLV another try. Should be better now that there are substantial guides available.

The biggest thing for me was that I found that I got really dizzy while trying to terraform. So I don't know if that will continue to be a problem for me. I feel I will only be able to play this game with a valley that I love since there is no town.

The camera does get a bit annoying at some levels; way high and way low it wants to be overhead. When you hit the threshhold between "very high" and "sorta high" it likes to flop back and forth. I've quite honestly played games where this sort of problem was way worse, but it'd be nice if there was a "Sit still, damn you!" button!

I put tons of hours into this game, but I felt pretty apathetic all the way through. Too much time on my hands I guess.in my opinion, SOS is way better. It is a lot like ANB in some ways, but different enough to be a brand new experience. SOS is the real harvest moon game, and they even brought in some characters from ToTT (renamed, but look and act pretty much the same).

TLV and ANB/SOS are totally different games in my opinion, with two completely different gaming styles and experiences. I guess my play style is more in tune with games like ANB, SOS, SI, and TTOT.

I don't know about Reina since she only just moved in, but I really disagree with this in Cam's case. He is WAY more talkative and sociable than his ToTT self, and you need an electron microscope to find any evidence that he's supposed to be quiet and socially awkward. Maybe it was having different editors, or maybe the writers did away with that aspect since he's no longer running his own flower ship, as part of his character was struggling with the customer interaction aspect of his business. I dunno. But he's definitely not the same Cam from ToTT, which is a plus for some and a minus to others.
