My copy has just been dispatched by Amazon, so I should be able to play it as soon as I get home from work tomorrow. My plan is pretty much 99% PaD Z, since I'm not really interested in the Mario side of it. I may play that one day, but I'm more attracted to the idea of collecting and raising dragons. I've been looking through Youtube for videos, and I've3 already got a mental list of various monsters I'm going to grind to collect, if needs be.

Since the old topic went beyond 10 days, and the game is being released tomorrow in EU/AUS, I thought it about time to start a new thread. Plus, I need distraction from the cynical depression that always seems to coincide with UK Election dates.

I honestly have no interest in Mario games so I am currently only interested in the P&D. I haven't tried out the demo yet though so that might change my mind, but honestly with SoS I have no time for it.
About Mario though, other than the old racing games those characters really do nothing for me. Course I also can't stand Link and have never played a Zelda game (watched my kids play some) so obviously there is something wrong with me.
I suppose if I beat P&D and my next 3DS game hasn't arrived yet (I've got a list of games pre-ordered) I'll try the Mario game I guess. I really have no idea what the story is about or anything on the Mario game, but due to lack of interest I've not done any research for it either.

Basically, the Mario version is pretty much the standard Mario plot. Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach, and you have to go save her. Again.
It does have some gameplay differences from Z though. Stuff like extra lives if you get a 12 or higher combo, and a skills system similar to the mobile version where skills unlock depending on the number of turns that have passed. To be honest, I pretty much used the demo to practice making combos. My highest is currently 9.
Some of the dragons in Z look amazing. This is my favourite one I've seen so far, but this one comes a close second. There's also this random Dragon Samurai that somehow manages to overcome the ridiculousness of what it actually is.
Some are a bit derpy though, but meh. Gotta catch them all.

Doesn't come out here until May 22? I think?
Anywho, I am looking forward to it. Ive wanted a nice puzzle game to wind down into when I'm gaming a bit closer to bed. Puyo Puyo makes me want to snap my 3DS is half, but this feels a lot more calming.
The demo was too short for me to have an opinion on the Mario side, but i'm really only buying it for the Z version as thats the game ive been waiting to come out since GungHo tweeted about it ages ago.
In the mean time, ive been trying to get through my backlog in prep for all the games coming out this month, because there are a lot.

I'll keep all spoilers under a spoiler tag once I get the game. Alas, I have work tomorrow, but since my workplace will be closed to the general public for the day, I should be able to leave early once the private visit is over, then the dragons shall be mine! Mwhahahaha.
I'm surprised there seems to be no UK Youtubers releasing content for this a few days early. Martyn InTheLittleWood did a small bit on it, but that was just the demo. I've seen a few LPs of the start of the Japanese version, but since both me and the Youtubers I watched can't read Japanese, it was more of a way to familiarise myself with the puzzling gameplay. Plus, it was hilarious watching them try and figure out what was going on. Especially this guy.

^I watch that guy sometimes, he's pretty funny.
I have a super Puzzle and Dragons fanboy friend and he's super hyped. He's also a whiz at the orginal game (or just gets really lucky).
I just get so lost on where I should be moving the pieces around that I might not even get a combo at all! I hope i'll get better with experience.

Yeah thought so. It's hard for me to argue against two games in one, especially when I've dearly loved every spin-off or RPG Mario game that came out. I'll definitely have to treat myself to this once done with SoS... Or maybe sooner.Bluie wrote:^Yep, they were.
Puzzles & Dragons Z in 2013 and the Mario Bros edition came out a few days ago in Japan.

How are the various dragons in it? Like how is the variety, do they look as good as the iOS ones etc? Are they all dragons or are there humans like in the iOS one?SilentPsycho wrote:Puzzle & Dragons Z. I've still yet to even touch the Mario side.
I know I have a dragon from Z in my iOS game and he looks pretty awesome. I'm guessing he's the end boss of the game from his name though.
Also, I am curious how the plot is? Is it good?

I really like the variety of dragons in this. I haven't played the iOS game so I don't know what they're like there, but I do adore the designs of the Z dragons, especially the Skydragons themselves. There are some humanoid characters, like Lilith and a few others, as well as Mystic Knights, and several animal-based ones. Wolf-Unicorn FTW, by the way.
The plot is okay. Not amazing or very original, but there were quite a few moments that made me laugh. It's pretty much like a Pokemon or Digimon plot, although I haven't gotten to the point where I understand the main villain's reasons for what he's doing. I really hope it's something more than 'Because I'm EVIL and I can', and there is a particular character that I can't quite figure out yet. Overall, it's pretty tongue-in-cheek at times.
Right now I'm just playing the Daily Rune dungeons to get chips to evolve my dragons to the next level. Just managed to complete my first Expert-level dungeon, although I have died several times attempting this before. Baby steps. :D

The iOS has some hilarious monsters. Especially the religious-based ones. They like to change the genders sometimes (not just male to female, but often that's the case ofc).
Case in point: Noah. Is a girl. with an awesome outfit.
I'm also glad to hear some non-dragon ones are in the game. Lilith and her set are all fantastic; the "healer girls" set to be specific, at least in iOS version, and I loooove their designs. I got my Siren to max level/evolution, but I really want Alarune. (I also really love Metatron, but I wish I had her special chibi.)
All of that being said, the iOS game got kind of bleh for me, because I am at a high level where I just have to grind and grind and grind. It's still fun but I have so many powerful dragons/dogs to level up now (thanks to Gem saving for rare events) and I just got kind of bored, you know? But this makes me want the Z game more. I'll definitely be getting it when I have some more free time.
