Daily Rune Dungeons? Is that some on-line thing or some dungeon you can only do once a day? I assume it's an area just to grind?SilentPsycho wrote:SNIP
Right now I'm just playing the Daily Rune dungeons to get chips to evolve my dragons to the next level. Just managed to complete my first Expert-level dungeon, although I have died several times attempting this before. Baby steps. :D

Basically, once a day you get a 'Daily Rune' from your Dad. It's sort of like a one-time ticket that will allow you into certain dungeons. The dungeon depends upon the day, and you can choose what level you want to try. For example, Monday is the Fire Dungeon, and Novice will have you fight Flamies, with an occasional basic Fire-type. Intermediate you fight against Mega Flamies and some tough Fire-types, and Expert will give you Giga Flamies and even tougher Fire-types. It's mainly to gather Chips, which you use to make your dragons evolve.LeBurns wrote:Daily Rune Dungeons? Is that some on-line thing or some dungeon you can only do once a day? Apart from weekends, in which you fight Mythlit-filled dungeons for money.

We are talking 'in-game' days right? This game doesn't work in real time like Animal Crossing does it?

Sorry, a few more questions about this then.SilentPsycho wrote:Real-time days. It's sort of like the Pokemon games, where optional thing X is available on Y day. It's the only time-based thing I've come across though, and there's plenty of other dungeons to play.
??? So are these downloaded from the WiFi each day or the game just generates them without needing to hook up on line?
I'll be honest I hate, HATE, games that mix real time with game time (I'm looking at you AC). I do have a RL and having to stop it so I can turn on a game on a certain day at a certain time is taking away from 'My Time', which IMO a game is not supposed to do. I don't mind giving my time to a game, but I HATE a game taking my time and me having to work around RL to compensate for it. Yeah sorry that turned into a little rant.
I don't know if this is going to be enough to make me drop the game and just move my pre-order money to something else, but I'm considering it now.

The game just generates them. There are some reusuable items which give you high-level dungeons called Relics which you download via WiFi, but those are something different. I don't know how those work, but I just check every now and again for them. You can also keep the Daily Runes without having to use them, so you can stockpile them to use on a day in which is suitable for you. There isn't really a specific time either, you can just talk to Dad at any point each day and get one.LeBurns wrote:Sorry, a few more questions about this then.SilentPsycho wrote:Real-time days. In the end, this is an optional dungeon, not even a specific side quest. I'm pretty sure there will be Gigas in the main game, but I'm one of those people that likes to build up my characters to insane levels before fighting bosses. To put this in perspective, there are over 30 normal dungeons you can play at any time once you've unlocked them, each with between 3-5 levels. This isn't even including the Dragon Coliseum, which is basically a sort of Arena.
Got the game and have played a while. Have some questions.
I found four 'chest' in the headquarters and two of the items I could use at the temple and go to some dungeon. Well that dungeon was apparently WAY over my level. My whole party was wiped before I could even do a turn. So, what are these things and is there some way to tell how powerful a dungeon is before getting wasted in it?
Evolve dragons ... is there any reason not to? I know in pokemon there are times when you don't want to evolve one for certain moves or whatever, but I just don't know enough about this game to know if leveling up dragons before evolving them has any advantage or not.
I've got some items, electric things or something another, but I have NO IDEA what they are or how to use them. I can't get any description of the item when I view it in my inventory.
Picking a partner when going in a dungeon? I just grab the highest level one. Is there some other thought process involved in choosing who to pick to go with you?
StreetPass is on. Have no idea what that means in this game really.
Thanks.

As far as I can tell, the only way I can tell how hard the temple dungeons are is by the stage title. Novice is easy, Intermediate is normal, Expert is hard, Master is very hard, and Mythic and Legendary are probably this game's version of Lunatic Mode and Lunatic+ Mode. Definitely endgame stuff. I also got oneshotted the first time I tried those two levels.LeBurns wrote:Got the game and have played a while. Have some questions.

I have no clue about disadvantages of evolving. Possibly unevolved grow faster than evolved, but that's just a guess. Either way, it's not that hard to level them the further you go.
Are they called something like Voltz? Multi-coloured cubes? If so, they're this game's equivalent of money. You use them for the Athena machine and the Z-Machine when you unlock them.
With partners, it's best to look at stuff like their element and their skills. Some helper skill up stats of certain types or elements, whereas others can affect the battle grid. My favourite to use is the turtle-like one, since it's battle skill freezes the time for a bit, and you can move multiple orbs until the freeze timer runs out. Seriously useful for combos.
I think Streetpass just adds one-time-use helpers. I've yet to Streetpass anyone with PAD Z yet.
Hope this helps.
Just hatched an ULTRA Kururu that leveled up to 20 as soon as it hatched. Interesting.
The Relics I have now are:
Destroyer Dragon Relic (got from GS code)
Idleness Relic (found in chest in HQ) - went here and got slaughtered.
Metal Dragon Rune (found in chest in HQ)
I've got a bunch of chips, but I guess those are for evolving dragons.
I'm getting some duplicate eggs now. Not sure it's worth hatching them but don't know what to do with them either.

You can use duplicate eggs with the Athena machine. Basically you combine eggs and d-voltz together to create EXP for your dragons. Metal dragon eggs are the best with this, since they can get your average dragon from level 1 to level 25 in one hit.LeBurns wrote:I'm getting some duplicate eggs now. My daughter just went out and got the game once she saw me playing it. To bad there's no way to battle each other or anything. Maybe we can streetpass and help each other?
I WISH that when the game tells you what monsters are in the next area it also listed their type, like have their name and their type symbol next to it. I don't have every monster in the game memorized and too often I'm bringing the wrong team with me.
I finally got a metal dragon. It's nice that you can redo the dungeon to get the paths you missed and try again for puzzles and what not.
My concern now is evolving. So far everything I've evolved has been something new, but I know that some dragons can evolve into two different types and I want to make sure I try the other type without evolving doubles of what I already have. Could really use like a evolution chart or something for the game. I know you can see the evolution chains in the game, but you can't view that while evolving stuff.
So far really liking the game.
ps - still have no interest in playing the Mario side.

On evolving, if it is like the iOS game, you won't be evolving doubles of what you have unless you use the same base monster and the same evolution materials. They could have changed that for this version but I would be surprised as they didn't for other versions of the game (like the weirdo W or something version that's all egg dragons or something iirc). So I would be surprised if they changed it.LeBurns wrote:My daughter just went out and got the game once she saw me playing it. To bad there's no way to battle each other or anything. Obviously someone with the game will be more help to you but since I saw you posting I figured I would go ahead and say that in case others with the game take a while getting back to you. But basically the alternate evolutions (at least in the iOS version) is more like an eevee and its evolutions in Pokemon: you're going to get different monsters if you have several eevees and treat them all the same, but if you treat them all differently (aka use different evo materials or methods or whatever) then you won't get the same results.

Basically, this. You can use the R and L buttons while evolving to switch between the evolution options, so you don't get doubles unless you want to or if you forget you've already made one. Each path also uses different materials.Melody Muse wrote:On evolving, if it is like the iOS game, you won't be evolving doubles of what you have unless you use the same base monster and the same evolution materials. I just realized I typoed a bit there, sorry. In "is more like an eevee and its evolutions in Pokemon: you're going to get different monsters if you have several eevees and treat them all the same, but if you treat them all differently (aka use different evo materials or methods or whatever) then you won't get the same results."
I should have said "get the same monsters if you have several eevees and treat them all the same".
Sorry about that typo!
