Thanks for the info. Didn't know about the R/L buttons.
Seems all the evolutions require 'mega' chips and stuff that I have never found yet. Is there a way to combine all these minor chips into bigger chips or something ... or do I just get them later.

You can get Mega chips after a certain point in the story, can't remember which one exactly, or via Intermediate Daily Dungeons. I have the coming out of my ears at the moment.

I tried an intermediate ... kinda kicked my tail. I just got the second dragon jewel and I've leveled up my teams to level 30. I tried to use the dragon arena (or whatever it was called) but didn't really see how it helps my training when I use a fixed team. I'm really bad at it.
Doing side quests now and then I'll start after the third jewel.
Yeah, the daily dungeons can be a struggle. Fun, but a struggle. I'm halfway through the last region, and I've only ever been able to complete the Expert level twice on it. Most times I die, but it's just a case of try, try again. Also, I think there's 1 Mega in the Novice route as the boss, but it's pure luck whether you get a chip from it.
Had my first defeat today. The 2nd dragon boss 2 shot me after the power up pills. Also, he took all my skills away!
I'm thinking I should un balance my team and just go in with my most powerful element and wreck him. The only downside is I have to make sure I have said element orbs on the board or i'll be screwed.

Again I can only speak for the iOS version here, but assuming the same goes for Z, but most people there run mono or duo element teams as they just do the most damage due to the attack bonus. But you'll also want a few different teams probably, like a rainbow team, as a backup if mono doesn't work.
I see it kind of like pokemon; you can raise one or two mon (color team) and powerhouse through the game just fine instead of having a perfectly balanced team.
So... how is Z compared to the demo we got of the Mario version? Because that was way too easy imo. And is Z worth the full price? The Mario version doesn't interest me at all...
My daughter just went out and got the game once she saw me playing it. To bad there's no way to battle each other or anything. Maybe we can streetpass and help each other?
I WISH that when the game tells you what monsters are in the next area it also listed their type, like have their name and their type symbol next to it. I don't have every monster in the game memorized and too often I'm bringing the wrong team with me.
I finally got a metal dragon. It's nice that you can redo the dungeon to get the paths you missed and try again for puzzles and what not.
My concern now is evolving. So far everything I've evolved has been something new, but I know that some dragons can evolve into two different types and I want to make sure I try the other type without evolving doubles of what I already have. Could really use like a evolution chart or something for the game. I know you can see the evolution chains in the game, but you can't view that while evolving stuff.
So far really liking the game.
ps - still have no interest in playing the Mario side.
actually you can see the choices to evolve when you evolve by pressing R1 or L1
