On my part, it isn't that I dislike action games altogether, it is just that my hand/eye coordination has never been good enough to play action games well, so I ended up liking games that require less of it. Even back when I was in elementary school, I liked Castle Adventure a lot more than Centipede, Space Invaders, and Galaga. Action games that are a little easier or forgiving (like Fantasy Life, which totally has a similar charm as PopoloCrois) I do end up loving, but I couldn't handle, say, FFXIII or Kingdom Hearts without incredible frustration, and a game like Monster Hunter or the Souls series is right out. And when a traditionally turn based or tactical game series turns into an action game series, my selection gets smaller, and I get sad.

WRPGs usually turn me off, too. They tend to be very grimdark (mostly fine in books, but having to see realistic gore triggers either night terrors or fainting for me, and I have seizures if I faint, so...) and the usually forced 1st person messes with my eyes, as I don't really have proper depth perception, and simulated "depth" is even harder, as I have to learn each game by rote.

Unfortunately, "what I am able to beat with some reasonable amount of difficulty" (and keeping in mind I love Dragon Quest, which is mercilessly grindy, and sometimes mercilessly difficult, so I do have a good measure of patience for failure) combined with "what doesn't mess with my eyes/other health issues so much that I get sick" locked me into a very narrow field of gaming, which recently had gotten a lot smaller as my shoulder is now too problematic to play PC games with for an extended period (bye, bye, MMO career). Controllers and handhelds, so far, have not triggered flareups of my bursitis. Fingers crossed.

A lot of words to express basically that Return to PopoloCrois is right up my alley for a number of reasons. Gamers with disabilities exist, and that's why there should always be choices.

Wow, I had no idea. That makes a lot of sense, though, and reading all of that makes me grateful that some developers are still creating turn-based games, and games with more positive themes, so you and others like you can continue to enjoy gaming -- hopefully for a long time to come!

That's a very inspirational post, and I hope Return to PopoloCrois can live up to the hype I've been creating for it. ;) Though given everything you've said, I'm pretty confident you'll enjoy it just as much as I did.

I don't even really have it rough when it comes to being a less-abled gamer. I'm only almost legally blind, I'm hearing, and I have all of my appendages, even if they don't always obey the brain signals appropriately. Heck, a blind guy just beat Ocarina of Time after five years!

So... new Manga on Thursday/Friday?

Tuesdays for manga, so the next installment will be posted tomorrow, and then the final installment on launch day!

Hnnnnng, 8 more days!

I'm not sure if I can last! Ive been so bored lately with no new releases tickling my fancy that I went back to my JPN 3DS in search of something small to tide me over. I ended up buying the 3D enhanced Final Fantasy port. THE WHITE MAGE SPRITE IS THE MOST ADORABLE THING EVER.

I preorder all my games from a local VG shop that my friends own, and they will literally throw PoPoLoCrois at my face when it gets in just to shut me up. So excited!

Yay! Glad to hear people are starting to get psyched for it!

The penultimate installment of the Popolo manga is now up, and it's the longest yet at nearly 30 pages (and features some of my favorite White Knight lines -- "Leaden cur!"):

Only one week to go before this manga tale is complete and the game is released throughout North America! WOOOOO!!

Awesome! My internet is being a jerk today, so I hope I'm able to read the new manga pages.

Copies of the US version seem to be out. Seeing some twitter people take screenshots.

Wow. If so, that's a quicker street date break than I've ever seen for one of our titles! The games must've literally been right off the truck, too, as we only JUST started shipping them out...

Story of Seasons was broken by one game shop at least 10 days before the street date, iirc.

XSEED gets no respect. :/

(I was finally able to read the new manga pages last night before bed, so good!)

I just spotted you over in the GameFaqs PoPoLoCrois SoS forums, Tom. (゚ヮ゚)

....I will openly admit that I got both SoS and Trails of Cold Steel a week before the street date \shame

I mean, it's not like that hurts us in any way, so... personally, I'm A-OK with it! Just don't tell any of the more business types I said that. ;)

Your secret is safe with me! •ᴥ-

Tom I actually have a question, you probably mentioned it before but, is there Miiverse screen shot functionality with this game?

To my knowledge, no. At least, nothing like that ever came up when I was working on it!

Aw :(

Thats OK though. I'll just have to fill up the Miiverse with tons of drawings instead!
