Yeah the Droid/iOS port makes it sound...fishy.
You cant have a game for Wii U and PC also on a smart phone.
Unless its a dumbed down, mini version.
Either way, I'll try it out on PC regardless.
Just better not be as bad as TLV was for me.

The description has really caught my interest because it says it's "inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games", but that's what they said about TLV, and that ended up being kind of ehh. I didn't try it, but that's the impression I mainly got from the community.
But if they can pull it off, I'll be really happy! I'm kind of worried about the iOS option too though. Maybe they're going for PC because that Farming Simulator game ended up being surprisingly popular?

I'm sure they tried to -- it would make no sense to rebrand an established title. Natsume developing under its own name is a pretty clear signal that they aren't willing to let go of the mark.TheFarmboy wrote:I am curious if XSeed would ever buy the Harvest Moon name.

I've been playing HM since 1999 and a member of this board since 2005...but only participate now and then when I'm engrossed in an HM game. Maybe you can think of me as a ghost?

I'm not sure about the Wii U. They only said they wouldn't develop games for the Wii U at the time because it wasn't doing as well as the 3DS. It could still happen sometime in the future. As for PC and phones(?) Marvelous has developed Bokumono games for it, they just never made it overseas.Anonymous Fish wrote:New game on platforms Marvelous would never touch? Sold.
As for the new game, I'm not sure how I feel. I wasn't interested in Lost Valley and with the game being on phones I'm worried about the quantity it would bring to the Wii U and PC versions, which, of course, can bring more to games than your average smart phone.

I also wasn't super interested in TLV but from what I understood it was good but flawed (like all HM games haha). I wasn't interested in the minecraft-style farming, but perhaps that would translate better on PC? I'm actually really excited the new HM is on PC! I don't have a Wii U yet (I want one) but I do have Steam.
The Android/iOS sounds odd, but if they make a good mini version it might work out well. HM/BokuMomo games are pretty good on handhelds, I'm assuming they'll also work well on the ultimate handheld - the phone!

I can't really say anything one way or another until I see what it actually is, but I'm somewhat excited for a console-style game again just on principle. That's assuming it fits into the console HM feel. Hope the art direction/character design and writing is improved over TLV as well.
Only bummer is while I got a shiny new Wii U, even if I really wanted to get the game I won't be able to play this on it, because TLV didn't come to Japan and I doubt this game will either. I don't know how demanding the PC version would be and iOS is right out because i kinda hate full touchscreen gaming (plus the mobile versions will probably be A. gimped (unless the full version has barely any content) or B. Too big for my 16gb 5s to handle).
But I think it would be interesting to be able to play in Japanese, if that's how TLV and this upcoming game were/are originally written in.
But right now I'm actually tentatively interested in this simply for the fact that it's a console game!! And hopefully they really mean console game and not a mobile game port.

TLV was, and this game will be, written originally in English. Natsume's Japanese branch is actually a subsidiary of the American company.Nurse Fin wrote:But I think it would be interesting to be able to play in Japanese, if that's how TLV and this upcoming game were/are originally written in.
The art direction was pretty bad in Hometown Story, too, but the writing was good -- so I'm holding out hope that Natsume will take a hint, fire that artist (haven't checked credits but seems the same for both TLV and HS), and really focus on writing. Heck, I would even be happy with HM64-esque 3D models.

This isn't true. It came out during the time when TLV was revealed that it was being written in Japanese, and then it was actually localized into English.http://natsume.com/community/showpost.p ... ostcount=2Emurii wrote: TLV was, and this game will be, written originally in English. The HTS artist was Atsuko Nishida who worked on Pokemon. TLV artist is someone named Saki Imaizumi."The Lost Valley is being developed in Japanese and localized immediately. Because we’re working internally there’s very little lag between getting a translation, localizing it, then reinserting it into the game."
I'm hoping they'll have a brand new artist for this game though!

Well, TLV was very reminiscent of the first games. The first portable games, that is. It's almost like a reimagining of the first HM for the game boy.
Maybe they now want to reimagine the first few console games with this one.

From the interviews Natsume has done, and things Marvelous has said, I've always had the impression they didn't even try to buy it.Emurii wrote:I'm sure they tried to -- it would make no sense to rebrand an established title. Oh wow, that's interesting. I knew it was developed by the Japanese dev team, but I didn't realize it was actually scripted in Japanese. Thanks for correcting.RopeMaidenKirie wrote:This isn't true.
