Neil Dating Trouble

I don't know if someone has already posted this, and the amount of posts make it impossible to navigate the answer without an account (?) (I couldn't find the search box). So I'm sticking my question here. It's Fall 09, and I requested Neil to date me. Sadly, however, although it's Year 1, a Sunday, no rain, and Neil is at a Blue Heart, twice he has rejected me, though the first time was my own stupidity as it wasn't the right day. Am I missing something, or do I just have to keep trying every Saturday and Sunday, and keep giving gifts throughout the week, in order to raise hearts, until he accepts? Or is there something I can do to help me with this?

Hello I also dated and married Neil and I could not get him to take the ring at blue heart either.So I gave him Yak milk until he went up another color and he accepted it with no trouble.Also make sure you have seen both heart events the one at gray and the one at purple.And that you are going on a day when you have not triggerd any other events because that will affect his answer.If you still can not get him to accept just keep giving him gifts and keep the ring in your bag and go to his house on every sunny Saturday andSunday .When there are no festivals or other events and he may confess to you I know for a fact that he will confess without you having to give him Shrimp Chili.If you have a yak and give him yak milk.He confessed to my farmer and I never knew his favorite gift.When I played the second time and decided to let him confess.Hope this helped.
