So, since this info is buried in the middle of a topic, I thought making a new topic might bring about faster results.
Luke gives out some VEEERY interesting rewards for his quests, and he specifically talks about producing mutations. One of these hints ended up producing our elusive golden peppers, so there's a very high chance that our other three missing crops are here, too. So for the sake of hiveminding it:
Also, my current theory is that the seemingly random stuff he gives you (materials) are further clues about conditions needed. Ex: Material stone = barren soil. The SEASON stuff seems to be all over the place, with one possible exception...
Request 1: Wants 5 spinach, and rewards you with 10 purple pansy seeds.
Easy. Requests a winter plant, and gives you seeds for a winter mutation. And of course, these seeds go on to produce our only flower BREED mutation, producing violas.
Request 2: Wants 5 broccoli, rewards you with 10 red cabbage seeds and two material stone.
Requests a winter plant, and red cabbage mutates into green cabbage on dry soil in spring.
Request 3: Wants 5 cabbage and 5 strawberry, rewards with 10 white berry seeds and 5 berry blend.
Requests 2 spring plants, and white berries fertilized with berry blend turn into magic berries in spring.
Request 4: Wants 5 onion and 5 celery, rewards with 10 baby spinach seeds and 2 material stone.
Request is for 2 spring crops; baby spinach seeds on dry soil produce pink spinach in winter.
Request 5: Wants 5 tomato and 5 corn, rewards with 10 huge cabbage seeds and 2 rainbow trout.
Request is for 2 summer crops; huge cabbage mutates into dome cabbage in lush soil at high elevations in winter. I'd expect that the fish = swampy soil, but it seems to refer instead to elevation. Rainbow trout is caught upstream--dunno about you guys, but I tend to catch them right outside the Goddess Spring.
Request 6: Wants 5 green pepper and 5 wheat, rewards with 10 fodder corn seeds and 5 corn blend.
Request is for 2 summer crops; fodder corn fertilized with corn blend produces sunset corn in spring.
Request 7: Wants 5 hot peppers, and 5 carrots. Rewards with 10 purple potato seeds and 2 material stone.
Request is for 2 fall crops; purple potatos in dry soil produce black potatoes in summer.
Request 8: Wants 5 potatoes and 5 pumpkins; rewards with 10 baby carrot seeds and 2 rainbow trout.
Request is for 2 fall crops; baby carrots at high elevation produce white carrots.
Request 9: Wants 3 great eggs and 3 great milk; rewards with 10 squash seeds and 10 goby.
Veeeery interesting! Request items are non-seasonal; and the base seed is related to not one but TWO of our missing mutations. So the result of this combination is UNKNOWN, and points at either Giant Pumpkins or Giant Squash.
Request 10: Wants 2 miracle eggs and 2 miracle milk; rewards with 10 scallion seeds and 2 material stone.
Request items are non-seasonal; scallions on dry soil produce red onions, BUT...dry soil isn't NECESSARY. We already know that they can show up on lush soil. POSSIBLE pearl onion candidate, but I think it's unlikely.
Luke's seasonal requests:
Spring 1: Wants 2 grapefruits, and 3 lilac spinach; rewards with 10 san marzano seeds and 10 tomato blend.
Requests spring crops; san marzanos fertilized with tomato blend produce red zeplins.
Spring 2: Wants 3 squash and 3 ultra milk; rewards with 10 romanesco and 2 cone tree sprouts.
Rquests spring crop and non-seasonal item; romanesco in lush soil produces dryads. I am GUESSING that the cone tree suggests soil type, as those seem to pop up more in lush soil than the hardwood ones?
Summer 1: Wants 2 peaches and 3 brown carrots; rewards with 10 magic pepper seeds, 10 goby blend, and 2 cone tree sprouts.
Requests summer crops; AND THIS IS WHY LUKE IS THE MAN. Magic peppers fertilized with goby blend on lush soil produce GOLDEN FREAKIN' PEPPERS at the HE+4 to HE-2 range.
Summer 2: Wants 3 mystic herb and 3 supreme milk; rewards with 10 angel lantern seeds and 5 rainbow trout.
Requests summer crop and non-seasonal item; angel lantern seeds at high elevations produce princess' eye.
Fall 1: Wants 2 apples and 3 giant potatoes; rewards with 10 brown carrot seeds, 10 mosquitofish blend, and 1 alligator gar (which is cool, because I'll NEVER catch that jerk).
Requests fall crops; rewards are CLOSE to what we know as a method to produce mandrakes? However, that is a different fertilizer, so I am going to call the results of these reward items UNKNOWN. I actually have a setup ready to test this against our known method of producing mandrakes, so I'll report back later.
ETA: testing against our normal method of producing mandrakes produced no results.
Fall 2: Wants 3 white celery and 2 ultimate milk; rewards with 10 red onion seeds and 5 apples.
Requests fall crop and non-seasonal item; and boy howdy...this seems like a potentially exciting combo! Only known mutation of red onions are teardrop onions, which are a winter crop on swampy soil. POSSIBLE pearl onion clues; this would point towards a fall crop using red onions as the base seed. I have NO IDEA how to interpret what the APPLE means! I did some testing on this; all elevations, dry and lush soil, with apple compost and without. No dice. Still untested: Patchy and swampy soil. Results of these clues are UNKNOWN.
Winter 1: Wants 2 oranges and 3 baby carrots; rewards with 10 barley seeds and 10 mosquitofish blend.
Barley fertilized with mosquitofish blend produces rye in winter.
Winter 2: Wants 3 pink spinach and 3 supreme milk; rewards with 10 magic pepper seeds and 2 cone tree sprouts.
Magic pepper seeds on lush soil produce white peppers in winter.
Analyzing Luke's rewards--all requests now complete!

(this is the "short" version; realized that the first post is really a wall o' text. So for you mutation hunters, here are the clues that don't seem to point to any known mutations and/or possibly hint at our missing 3 crops)
Request 9: Wants 3 great eggs and 3 great milk; rewards with 10 squash seeds and 10 goby blend.
Possible giant squash/giant pumpkin combo; however, if it is it means at least one of our two remaining fertilizers is a red herring. Urgh.
Request 10: Wants 2 miracle eggs and 2 miracle milk; rewards with 10 scallion seeds and 2 material stone.
This is most likely a hint about red onions, but they do mutate on other soil types. POSSIBLE pearl onion hint. Material stone = dry soil; so testing on dry soil with our two remaining fertilizers isn't TOO bad.
Fall 1: Wants 2 apples and 3 giant potatoes; rewards with 10 brown carrot seeds, 10 mosquitofish blend, and 1 alligator gar.
CLOSE to the method for producing mandrakes, but it does not produce the mutation. No other known mutations from brown carrots. Very quickly tested at lowest 8 elevations on dry soil (mandrake range and lower, guessing that the alligator gar is an elevation hint?) with no results. Hints suggest either brown carrots + mosquitofish + low elevation OR brown carrots + mosquitofish + (erm, whatever season you catch alligator gar in? I assume that is fall?). We have no unknown carroty mutations though, unless somehow the stupid carrots turn into squash or pumpkin.
Fall 2: Wants 3 white celery and 2 ultimate milk; rewards with 10 red onion seeds and 5 apples.
Only known mutation of red onions is the teardrop, which is a winter mutation. Still possible that this points at that, and the "swampy" soil is indicated by a juicy apple? We have two clues in for the onion family, and neither seems to be a very strong candidate. I lean towards this one being teardrop onions, however.
