It was the whole wall that I had constructed. I was very, VERY annoyed. But, if we could figure out why it happened it might be useful. I am guessing the summer extra hot days are the cause. The one random one that spawned was in the middle of a dry area that was surrounded by patchy and it was pretty much dead-center. I'm guessing that A) soil MUST be dry B) soil has water "hit points" C) you need a fairly large area of dry to keep the grassy conditions from creeping in D) you need to have lots of the extra-hot sun for it to happen. Or, possibly E) it's a random bug in the game that occasionally occurs for no reason whatsoever XD.

It does occur to me that the tile path -> stone trick could be pretty dead handy if you're working 2 crops that need different soil conditions at the same elevation. The stone seems to work to keep the water conditions from spreading; so if you're working a lush loving plant and a dry loving plant you can just slap a couple of tiles down between them to keep your soils in the desired condition. Just a theory, haven't tested, etc etc. I'll watch the condition of grass around where I placed my tiles between the swampy testing grounds and the rest of the farm.

Okay I checked out the tile trick and POOF, the entire column turned to stone! Wow neat. Now I just need a butt load of grey tiles. I did some research and I discovered that stories of time traveling have occurred even -before- the stories of top hat-wearing raptors. Amazing!

Um, I checked with Doc though and he doesn't sell grey tiles. Are they bought through Brutus? I can't really check right now. I hope the materials needed to make them are common though, but at least I can make that my next project. I'll be sure to post pics of my castle and walls when I'm done. It's a very good thing that the trick affects the entire column. I don't need to knock anything down.

There are some stone tiles; have you done Brutus' requests yet? I think that's where the different flavors come from. They don't exactly match the stone pattern, it's 4 grey square stones in a pattern.

ETA: Brutus' requests unlock the recipes for the various paths; you then buy them from Doc. Eh. Sorry. I had like an hours' sleep last night and I'm sorta groggy. The one I am thinking of is called "Gray Stone Path", and I am 98% sure that the pattern comes from Brutus' requests.

Darnit. I haven't unlocked the grey path, and I don't have any new requests from Brutus yet. Well -that- will be my next project then.

I hate the requests from Tony, Brutus, and Andrea..."Oh, gimmie all your ore/refined materials!" DAMMIT, DON'T YOU KNOW I NEED THAT STUFF??

To get Brutus's requests, refine one thing at a time, cancel out completely, then refine one more item with him. It's the same principle behind Hanna's and Iris's requests.

Or there's my method: ignore his requests so long that by the time you get around to wanting to actually do them, you've maxed his chemistry and he'll just give you the quest.

My villagers looooooove me. Even Goran is at 82%. Other than that, Luke and Dewy are the only ones not maxed (and they're both at 95%-ish). And then there's Calvin. Stupid, dingy, 13% Calvin. Calvin needs to get with the program.

My social scene looks like this xD:

Lily (daughter), April, Emily, Catherine, Tony, Hunter, Sam, Brutus, Jimmy, Iris, Hanna, Naomi, Sally, Doc, Harvest Goddess, Woody, Flint: 100%
Gareth: 88%
Harvest « Harvest Goddess »: 67%
Rowan: 66%
Gilbert: 62%
Tabitha: 59%
Blossom: 53%
Dewy: 48%
Oliver: 43%
Gorgan: 31%
Luke: 4%
Calvin, Andrea: 0%

Andrea has only shown up once since I started playing, I'm bad to forget to talk to the night owls, stuck on requests for Gorgan and the Harvest « Harvest Goddess », and I never, ever let my animals out. Rowan and Dewy really should build chemistry faster than this u_u

Heh, excepting Luke and Andrea (who I worked through fast for clues), mine was pretty much like yours until I decided to try to max them out.

I sorta get why Dewy is so slow, because even at 30-40%, he's absolutely invaluable. But Calvin? I honestly don't get the point of Calvin. Maybe he makes your animals' affection go up faster, but it gains pretty fast anyway. Other than saving you some money on animal feed, he's useless. And he won't even take the poor chickens outside. Other than my first chicken, none of those poor birds has ever set foot outside. Free the birds! Free range chicken!

Oh, and Woody is just a dang menace. Yes, it's the only (reasonably fast) way to get the mysterious lumber, but I hate setting him out and then coming back a few hours later to find he's grown a dang forest right in the middle of my fenced pasture. I've NEVER used him since getting his affection maxed. The orange sprite sorta does the same thing, but his ore lodes produce the strangely rare (and also, it's an ALLOY, but okay) bronze ore fairly frequently, so I'm okay with him.

Oh yeah, my Dewy isn't maxed out yet, but at his 90% or so affection....well, he can hit 100 plants at a go EASY. I had about 250 plants going in some of my failed pepper experiments (pre Luke), and he'd be back at the spring by 11AM. Dang. Same plants would take me until late evening to finish watering.

Flint is great at higher chemistry; his nodes start dropping mithril and jewels XD If you save before you hit each of his nodes, you can easily make 10,000g+ in a single day.

My Dewy is kind of a pain at the moment u_u I actually have to save scum his jumps to make sure he waters everything, because he'll usually miss one or two spots in one patch and teleport to THOSE instead of another big patch of unwatered crops, leaving half my plants dry by the end of the day.

...Which has nothing to do with 3DS themes, but oh well. xD

LOL, I think this topic is no longer about themes at all XD.

Even at super high chemistry, he still does the same thing, even though I've seen him do a patch that's about 10X10 he'll sometimes just do 9 squares wide. I just sort of chase after him and fill in the spots. I tend to plant in longish strips, so sometimes he'll do one end then the other and leave a stripe down the middle. Dewy. You know better than that. Still cuts down on the work so much that I really can't complain.

The nice thing about Woody's trees is that they disappear if you go to sleep, so you can just ignore them.

About stone, I have never seen dirt become stone... But I sure wish there was a way to place stone material back in be ground... It would make landscaping a bit better I think.

LOL, they DO? I thought they turned into normal trees! Like how the orange sprites nodes turn into rocks (or maybe I am mistaking that for random rock spawn)?

Welp, you learn somethin' new every day. Unless you are Calvin. *gives Calvin a dirty look*. (I actually really love Calvin, he makes me laugh. I want a plush harvest sprite!)

Nope, both the trees and rocks just disappear if you don't harvest them before 5 AM.
