I've noticed that villagers have constructions they like to see, and I'm wondering if there's a list of what each villagers like. I'm guessing it doesn't affect friendship with them or anything since I haven't found any mention of it in Cher's guide, but I'm curious about it. Besides, I like constructing little gardens and things that I know villagers who frequent that area would like :)

Here is what I have so far, dialogue maybe or maybe not coming soon:
Spoiler:
Dunhill:
Street Light
Fountain
Silver Bench
Garden Plaza: 'What a luxurious garden. It's sure to attract everyone in the town.'

Emma:
Fountain: 'Look at this fountain. It's nice when a plaza has a fountain because then you can play in the water when it's hot.'
Old Cart
Yellow Bench
Park Plaza: 'This is a fantastic park. This is the type of place where I’d like to sit on a bench and leisurely read a book'.
Beach Parasol Table
Arch Bridge: 'I like the unique shape of this bridge. It has an exotic feel to it.'
Parasol Table: 'What a wonderful garden table. It would be fun to throw a party in the garden.

Hana:
Greenhouse
Cone Tree: 'Conifers are green even during winter and so pretty. They have nice shapes and are perfect for landscaping.'

Rebecca:
Ball Topiary
Tricycle Pot
Tree Decoration: 'This is a small tree-lined path, isn't it? I can tell because I designed it. I'm happy to see that you did quite a good job.'
Arch Bridge: 'This is a well-design bridge. I don't design bridges, but I find this one interesting.'

Toni:
Stone Bench
Stone Arch: 'My mom designed this stone fence, right? It's kind of dull, but I like how solid and strong it is.'
Fountain
Barrels
Tricycle Pot: 'This tricycle doesn't look like you could ride on it. Oh, it's just for decoration.'

Hossan:
Arbor: 'I think it would be nice to have some vines growing around the arbor.'
Park Plaza: 'This is a grand park. It'll be the town's place of relaxation. We're all very happy.'
Garden Decoration
Garden Plaza: 'What a beautiful garden. No expense has been spared. You should charge admission. You'd make a lot of money. Huh? No one will come? I see, you're pretty shrewd.'
Park Pathway: 'What a fine park. It's a perfect place to stop for a rest when you're taking a walk.'
Farm Decoration: 'This area has a nice feel to it. It's neat and well-balanced. It creates a nice path for taking a stroll.'
Red Flower Arch: 'An arch of red flowers. Now that’s nice. Put a couple there and you’ve got the start of a novel.'

Niko:
Barrels
Wagon: 'There's a wagon. I wonder if they're selling anything? Oh, it's just for show. I hoped they were selling crepes or something.'
Totem Pole: 'A totem pole. It's cool, but isn't it a bit small?'
Weather Vane: 'A weather vane always faces the direction of the wind, right? But why is it a chicken? Can't it be a bird? Or a sparrow? Or...? I can't think of anything else.'
Boot Pot: 'Flowers are blooming in a boot. Hmm, could it be a decoration? It's sorta interesting.'

Klaus:
Cactus
Cone Tree: 'Having evergreens in the yard means color, even in winter. In particular, conifers have pleasant shapes.'
Wagon: 'That's a pretty nice wagon there. It's a waste if you don't use it. Why don't you use it to sell something?'
Nadeshiko: 'Nadeshiko flowers are pretty, but very unassuming. That's what I like about them.'

Clement:
Beach Chair: 'What a nice chair. You'll have to let me borrow it when I open up a shop on the beach.'

Kosaburo:
Wooden Boxes: 'What's that big wooden box for anyway? What? It's just left there?! What a waste. Use it for firewood.'
Wooden Pillar: 'That's a grand wooden pillar. I thought you were going to build a house around it, there's something weird on the top. Say, just what is that? Huh? Oh, is that so? I see.'
Cherry Tree
Stone Lantern: 'Did you bring that stone lantern from somewhere? What? You made it? That's some talent. Almost a waste to stay on the farm.'

Charles:
Garden Plaza
Red Roses: 'I love red roses. In fact, you could call it my trademark. So red roses are more than welcome.'

Hina:
Garden Plaza: 'What an amazing garden! There are so many flowers, and even a fountain. This is like a garden in a palace.'
Park Plaza: ‘What a huge park. I’d like to stroll around a park like this with Mom and Dad.’
Marguerites: 'The marguerites are in bloom. I love marguerites. Please take good care of them.'
Fluffy Arch: 'The fence is shaped like a sheep! Isn't it fun? I wish our house had a sheep fence. I wish someone would make us one.'
Pink Bench: 'Pink benches are nice. I want to sit on one with Mom.'

Olivia:
Curved Arbor: 'A curved arbor is perfect for the corner of any garden. An arrangement of flowers just makes it even nicer.'
Gentian: 'Gentians blooming on the roadside are pretty, aren't they? Such a refreshing sight when you're taking a walk.'

Allen:
Lattice Fence
Lavish Fountain
Blue Roses: 'Blue roses? That's rare. They suit my tastes perfectly.'
Red Flower Arch: 'An arch of flowers ... very nice. I especially like the red flowers.'
Parasol Table: 'With that parasol table it feels like a picnic!'

Neil:
Beach Parasol Table

Rod:
Totem Pole

Sanjay:
Scarecrow
Wagon
Old Decoration
Nadeshiko
Hydrangea: 'Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. I'd like to have some in the mansion.'
Cactus: 'I like potted cactuses. They're cute.'
Old Pathway: 'This type of scenery is very relaxing. Don’t you agree?'
Blue Flower Arch: 'This blue flower arch is the perfect entrance for a garden.'
Purple Bench: 'I like this purple bench. Purple is one of my favourite colors.'
Blue Bench: 'This blue bench is very tasteful.'

Amir:
Old Pathway
Wooden Bench: 'I like wooden benches. They give off a sense of warmth.'
Beacon: 'I see a beacon here. Are you going to hold some kind of festival? Well, you should. This would be a great place to have a concert.'
Tree Decoration: 'Walking around this area feels very good.'

Soseki:
Garden Plaza: 'Being in a luxurious garden like this feels good, but it's hard to relax. I guess the style just doesn't suit me.'
Purple Bench

Felicity:
Street Light
Classy Decoration: 'It's fun to look at gorgeous gardens. Who came up with the arrangement for this garden? It must have been someone really amazing.'
Beach Chair: 'Beach chairs are perfect for sunbathing. I always end up sitting in them longer than I had planned to.'
Parasol Table: 'I like parasol tables. They're perfect for relaxing and enjoying some tea and sweets.'

Tina:
Curved Arbor: 'Curved arbors are convenient because they can be used in a lot of different places. Of course, it's nice to have one in the corner of a garden, but they can also be combined in interesting ways.'
Bird Fountain: 'It's pretty unusual to see a fountain of water coming out of the mouth of a duck. That is a duck ... right?'
Hedge: 'I like it when a place has hedges. There's something deeply familiar and calming about them.'
Fancy Street Light: 'This street light with two lamps looks rather fancy, and it's bright, so it makes you feel safe at night.'

Iroha:
Old Decoration
Stone Lantern: 'There's a stone lantern. We had a stone lantern at my house too. My father ordered one from a stonecutter. I was too young to understand then, but apparently it was a fine piece.'
Bush
Tricycle Pot
Bamboo Arch:
Cherry Tree
Bonsai
Parasol
Tea Table
Red Flower Arch
Paper Lantern

Michelle:
Blue Roses
Park Plaza: 'What a fine park! I think it would be great to come here on a date... Or maybe I can build a stage and perform magic here...'
Park Decoration: 'This is a park to be proud of. You can stop and take a breather here after some shopping!'
Arch Bridge: 'What an unusually shaped bridge. It has a foreign charm to it.'
Garden Chair: 'Such nice chairs. Next time, when I perform outdoors, I'd like to use them.'
Pink Flower Basket: 'A pink flower basket. It's very pretty!'
Table 'What a nice table. But it's too plain to be used for tabletop magic.'

Yuri:
Blue Roses
Hay Bale: 'The bales of hay ... I love the smell ...'

Hana likes the greenhouse.

Kosaburo liked the sakura tree, and also commented on a bunch of boxes that I had placed somewhere, (I still don't remember which set that was exactly)

Michelle commented on potted blue roses.

I know Iroha likes the tricycle pot (you know that one you make with Elli leaves), she often commented on the bamboo gate, the sakura tree, the bonsai, the 毛氈 and the 野点傘 (the red umbrella and the red seat), both the stone and paper lantern, and also the silver arbor that has red flowers, I think it was called "red flower arc" .. and she also commented on the well.

I'm pretty certain that everyone has a specific bench color they like too, but I never bothered to test each color.

Oh well, if there isn't a list already around (idk, fans are usually great at compiling stuff long before I even think anyone would ever want to use them), I'd be happy to compile them myself with contributions! I know quite a lot already. I may or may not fill places up with objects that I think frequent visitors would like, hehe. So if there isn't a list, I'll start compiling them soon, maybe even with dialogue because I'm like that.

I don't remember there being a list, but I do remember a Japanese site which had some of the characters' lines, which translated exactly the same as the ones I remembered by the way.

I could only see their reactions when they were around the farm as I don't decorate the town very much, each one of them has a particular area they wander in within a certain timeframe, like how Hana, Allen, Dunhill, .. [what was the name of Yuri's mom?], Charles and Neil tend to wander around the main farm.

One thing I always wondered was whether it was possible to find all of them wandering around the farm, or it was a matter of having enough FPs, because I remember Emma said something about how people would visit more if there were more decorations.

Hm? Every villager has a part of the farm they will wander around as part of their random location. It's not tied to your FP with them or anything, just with whether or not you've unlocked that part (although iirc for most characters, they unlock with the plan that unlocks that part of your farm anyway).

And see, you do know the name of Yuri's mum right there :p

Thanks! It'd be cool if you could confirm Allen too. I seldom see Allen around and I don't exactly care to watch him when I do see him lol.

I also think that each villager has a colour or two of bench that they like. I think for the bachelor/ettes, one could make a pretty good guess based on their favourite outfits (that's how I knew to put down blue and purple benches to see Sanjay's reaction, and Soseki likes purple benches as well), though I won't put it down in the OP until I can test each one.

The one construction that I've seen Allen like is that fountain that you need to complete tr 4 or 5.

Will do. He needs to show his face at my farm, but I'll definitely confirm it when I see him again. :D

Hope it's not too late for a bump, I forgot D:

Updated quite a lot recently. I think villagers don't so much comment on fences as they do at arches and refer to it as a set of fences, so I've just put them all down as '[description] Arch'. All the dialogue shows interesting bits of personality, lately I've found myself refreshing areas just to see if certain villagers will react to constructions I put down specifically for them.
