Starting Over

I decided to play Harvest Moon again, so I deleted my saved game for a fresh start. I'm not entirely sure where to start off, since I haven't played this game in a while. If anyone would kindly give me some advice, I would truly appreciate it! I would also appreciate it if someone would let me milk their cows and shear their sheep via multiplayer. (once I unlock it.)

Make sure you save everything you find. You'll going to need everything trust me. Especially bottles.

Don't forget to fertilize your crops and have at least 2 1.5 potatoes, one for the crop festival and one for storage.

Bees. They need bees for the beehives.
Also I can give you yam seeds, that way you don't have to wait until fall year 2.

Also if you find coins from the fish traps sell them. If you get the golden coins, they sell at a good price. I usually sell any black lumber/stone I find in the first few seasons. I usually don't need it until year 2

Gather flowers so you have something to give to people during the first flower festival, as it tends to sneak up on you. (Or at least does on me every year.)
Basically, save everything as everyone said, haha. The only item I never found use for was junk ore. Also talk to Iroha and Neil daily, and give them gifts whenever you can. Give ores (and iirc flowers work too) to Iroha to befriend her for blueprints for your tool upgrades (keep giving her stuff daily as she has a lot of blueprints). Neil you want to give animal treats (or eggs or milk, but you can buy animal treats for 10g and sell eggs/milk for more than that) to get the large bell blueprint from him to herd animals in and out daily.
Also don't talk to the HG on your birthday if you've given her lots of gifts; it freezes the game in the English version, iirc.

Uhm it depends on what gifts you give her. Iirc it took me about a season of talking to her and goving her ores or flowers every day to get all the blueprints.
There's some info on it on
bachelorette page. There also is the
Gifted Blueprints Page.

I want to say it was after 100 or 150 gifts but I'm not positive. And iirc it only happens if you talk to her on your birthday anyway, and only in the English game.

So we don't need the coins for anything? I haven't been selling them just in case we needed them, like in Grand Bazaar.
