If there's one thing I really did like about RF: ToD is that there were enough save files to do whatever you wanted with.

I would love it if there were at least four save files, but I have a sinking suspicion that we'll be lucky to even get three.
RopeMaidenKirie wrote:I like actual dating instead of hareming, but as already mentioned, I really wish breaking up was easier. It's honestly pretty ridiculous how difficult it is and I don't really understand why they've made it that difficult. Same with getting reverse confessions/proposals, ugh
This. I can get behind hareming, but I really liked the sort of...seriousness that dating entailed? Made the relationship feel a little more legit. However, if they wanna do that, they REALLY need to change how break ups work because it's just insane in SoS. Seriously, just a "Yo beb I ain't feelin' dis relationshizzle no mo', ya dig?", cue Le Sad Do You Really Wanna Break Up convo (yah « Baaaa *glomp* ») + loss of heart points and BOOM - freedom to cruise the ship of hanky panky love would suffice.

Also keeping my fingers crossed that you don't need one of those little deck things in order to fish. Hoping that with the beach back, you can fish anywhere. Oooh, and a little bonfire would be nice. That was really fun in the wii games where you could go fishing and then just grill your fish on the beach. Nice way to pick up stamina in a pinch.

I prefer the hareming system, too. I love seeing all events possible for every marriage candidate, but doing so is quite a tiresome process with the dating system. Just recently I was able to do it in SoS but only after getting everyone to a red heart and all marriage conditions ready before confessing at all. This method leaves you to need to only view the last two heart events, usually within the span of a week, and able to propose/reverse propose the weekend after the start of dating. Most of all, it wouldn't be too much of a hassle if there were preferably more than two save slots, but this method also means missing out on the special dating dialogue that occurs from blue to red heart (although, you do get all of the friendship dialogue from blue to red, of course!).
I understand that the dating system is nice and realistic and puts a pleasant emphasis on the relationship before marriage, but I have the feeling that one of the main reasons it was implemented is to make the final two heart events romantically-focused, rather than non-committal, friendshippy-style events as in the series' past. While I love to see more "romantic" events, if it's at the stake of the hareming system, personally, I'd prefer non-romantic events for the last two heart events. Perhaps instead, those "romantic" heart events could be seen in the forms of more non-dating romantic festivals or some function similar to the "by the way (ところで)" command in RF4.
Oh, well! In any case, I'm looking forward to the new announcements to come :lala:

I wonder when the official website will be up. I can't remember how long before the last one was up before the game was released.

I'm quite neutral in terms of harem since I always been the type to go after one guy. I do hope that the rival marraige and kids will make a come back. It's becoming a bore being the only one married. XD

@Sade - I laughed so much at your reply, I totally agree lol. I guess it works since I normally only go after 1 or 2 people anyways most of the time.

You can fish anywhere in the game luckily! The magazine confirmed that :D

@Anon - I looked, and the website was actually put up right after the Famitsu reveal for Shintenchi. So I'm guessing at this point we'll probably get it sometime next week, along with their twitter starting to update again as well.

Yes, rival marriage please! I was just literally about to post about this. The last HM game I played before the newer ones was MFoMT so I was really surprised when there were no more rival events. Like, I don't want to be the only one with a happy married life and kids

Aside from the fishing contest, being able to only fish from docks didn't bother me tbh. I kind of get amused at how much it bothered everyone else though. But I'm glad that if it bothered everyone else so much, it got removed. Whatever makes the most fans happy is good, yeah?

I also agree on the whole dating thing needing easier breakups. I'm okay with hareming, but at the same time, I really enjoyed the dating mechanic because like... I liked the idea of being able to actually be friends with the opposite « Chicken Hugging » bachelor(ette)s, instead of just having every girl in town like you because you talk to them every day. But that being said, again, whatever makes the most people happy? And yeah the break up requirements were ridiculous... I also felt like 2 heart events was just not enough to really know who to go for in ANB or SoS.

I'm hoping maybe we will get rival families again, just because we're getting a in-game family for the MC, and to me it seems funny for them to do that, but not rival marriages/families with kids? Like, then it would feel to me like a let's just give only the MC all the depth type deal? (Since a lot of the HM characters have out of town families, or many members out or town, or deceased, etc.) But we shall see. I know the potential reasons why or why not have been covered a looooot.

Also hoping for no weird unlock requirements. I'd love to go into a SoS game blind like I could for HM, and not worry about missing out on stuff (like the vendor unlocks in SoS) etc.

ANB had a great art style :( not sure why they are changing it. This still looks fine to me, regardless. Excited to see more, as I already like wayne~

This is probably too much to hope for, but I hope they get rid of the time elongating things that just make the game tedious to play, and not fun. Things like unlocking a blueprint, and finding out what you need can only be gotten in spring… When it's only the middle of summer.

^^ like every 2 games gets a slightly different art style, probably just to shake things up. it's still the same artist. (igusa matsuyama has done all the art except for ap/tot, iirc?)

man i'd be happy just with rival marriage in this game, lol. rival families are super cute though.

Forgive me, I really want to read everything in this thread but it's way too much, so I just skimmed the last 11 pages. I'm gonna try and be active from now on, though.

I’m kind of ehh on the idea of three villages, since I feel they fudged that up with Tale of Two Towns. Both villages felt small and empty, and I'm worried the three villages here will be underdeveloped. Hopefully there isn't a huge, time-wasting stretch of land separating them either.

Looking at screencaps, it looks like the colors of the game will be very vivid and pretty. I'm glad we're getting something gorgeous, instead of muted colors and pastels. That was a big problem with Pokemon X and Y, and those games have made me die for more colorful worlds.

I do hope this time, the game won't be so complex and unintuitive to the point where you need to constantly have a guide or the internet handy. I feel like the games have been going in that direction for a while, and it makes it too cumbersome to play a lot. Coupled with the fact that so many of my favorite things are locked until year four or later it makes for a dull experience. Like I get making you work for things and not giving you everything at once, but I haven't played a full year in an HM game since Island of Happiness. I've never been able to get my fave animals, llamas and alpacas.

But I’m still optimistic about things. The last few games have been streamlining the experience and making it more enjoyable - customization was much more accessible in SoS than it was in ANB. I believe I won't be disappointing in that respect.

My post is getting long and dumb, so I'll put the stuff I want under a spoiler.
Spoiler:
I want homosexual marriage, but I'll still be very happy so long as I can simply crossdress my character as the opposite gender and pretend. With SoS making customization so accessible and unrestrained, I've been able to do just that.

We have a mining town? Please Harvest Goddess, bring back mining. Please, I'm sorry for straying further from your light, I will repent for some actual mining. And a church. Build a mine and a church and I'll go to that church and donate to you.

Also, can we get more supernatural baes? We established mermaids exist, so where's my mermaid mama? I still want older men and women love interests more than anything, but my ideal love interests would be a burly werewolf man and a seductive siren.

I'd also like more things for your kids - schools, a close group of friends, unique hobbies, maybe more life stages. If we get super baes, it'd be cool if our kids with them would be supers. Imagine keeping your mermaid kids in a fish tank or aquarium.

I like how you had the ability to completely alter your farming style in SoS. I converted my farmland into a vineyard. I hope they keep that.

And please, for the love of the Witch Princess, bring back shipping bins. The shipping system of SoS was atrocious, and having to unlock all those vendors was so tedious and dull.

Aaaaaand I want Mukumuku. He's my absolute favorite character in the series. If he was a possible bachelor, I'd marry him simply for the shock value.

Sade, hanky panky doesn't exist in this series.

I used to harem until Marvelous started catching on. I think it was around ToTT when the bachelors/bachelorettes started to have jealousy events? In ANB and SoS I only gifted all the love interests until... blue hearts? I used to determine who I would marry based on their heart events but now I can't go playing with other people's hearts :(

Also, that werewolf love interest would be... really great. Just. REALLY great. I don't think Marvelous would go for it though.

I love playing with those pixel hearts, UNLIMITED POWAAAAHHH!!!!

But yeah, I could forego the harem if breaking up wasn't such a chore.

If they have rival marriages I would absolutely love rival children.

Am I the only one who doesn't want rival marriages. I don't mind being the only one to get married. And I can ship who I want

There was a thread a while ago, like half a year or more, and I remember that like... It asked if people wanted rival marriages. I think it was an SoS or ANB era thread? And it was like 65% didn't want them, and the rest did or were undecided. It really surprised me. So... you're definitely not alone in that, Kitty. Although I heard people talk about it more generally as hoping it'll be a feature, whenever I've seen actual topics on it, it seems at least some, if not a good sized chunk, players don't like the idea of competing for their pixel spouse. (Obviously in that thread it was more but... I don't know as a whole in the fandom how the opinions are divided.)

While this is FAR from a hard and fast rule, and just me going off of my own (admittedly often faulty) memory, I was under the impression that younger fans tended to not like rival marriages or events, where older fans did.

Maybe the best option would be a toggle switch, hahaha.
