Right, so on Fall 7th, Yr.2 I forgot to get the salesperson. Then on the 8th I didn't either, AND I forgot to save (That's pretty common on me). Then on the 9th Rainer appeared and offered me 1 Pearl Oyster. I went to RL dinner ( I wanna keep playing!)
and my DS died out. I played through 8 AND 9 again, and got 7 Pearl Oysters. On Spring 7th Yr. 3, Susanne came by. She offered me Sea Urchin Pasta. I reloaded from the day before to see if it changed, and it did! She now offered Honey Tea, or something like it! I promise I'm not lying. So maybe their stock can change, or at least Susanne's?
I'm not really sure what your question is since you seem to have answered it yourself, but yes the traveling salesperson's stock is randomly chosen. I'm not sure how far in advanced the item is set and you're unable to reset and change it, but I'm sure if you save scummed the night before or the one before that you'd be able to keep restarting and changing it until you got what you were looking for.
