Hi there,
wondering if befriending villager's in this is important for outcomes of festivals or unlocking things?
I think it's really my least favourite part in modern harvest moon games :/ Just such a pain to figure out what everyone likes (only very few seem to tell me anything in that regard) and talking to everyone daily when they just keep saying the same things is like the most boring chore there is, emphasized just by all the loading screens one has to go through...
Is villager friendship important?

Except for rival farmers event (a trophy if you complete all their events for Fritz, Georgio & Elise) & the maid and butler pattern set at high FP with Elise, there is nothing else unlocked at high friendship, I think. But on your own birthday you can talk to the villagers to get a present from everyone that has at least 20,000 FP.
I don't really give out gifts because I was too busy with my farm work. You also automatically gain FP with every villager, except Dessie, Witchie & Sprites, by participating in festivals. Just talk to them when you see them passing by, the dialogue will get interesting as you progress in the game & wear different outfit

Also if you gift Dessie & Witchkins a certain amount of times you get outfits from them as well.
Otherwise, along with what Syncrietta said, if you get the villagers to a certain FP level you get gifts from them on your birthday. Some of them are pretty valuable too but that's up to you. I personally think it's worth it but I've always liked talking to villagers in HM games

for gifting dessie, do the offerings in the pond count? or do you have to hand her gifts for that to count??FoolishGhoul wrote:Also if you gift Dessie & Witchkins a certain amount of times you get outfits from them as well.

Sorry I should have specified that in my post D:
For Dessie it's (I think 300?) offerings and Witchkins it's gifts. Don't quote me on that number though I'm not sure if that's the right one or not. It might just be 100 but I'm on my phone rn and can't double check sorry! But yes, for Dessie offerings in the pond count
