Aw man I was really hoping to see it. This means it's probably going to be like in sos when Lutz had to go to school and his mom would walk him to the town entrance and he would leave. It would be kind of a bummer if it were like that in this game. Having a school in the village (or in this case, one of the villages) brings a sense of community that you miss out on when it's outside of the village. And it would be fun to see her teach the children. But as it is, I'm fairly positive we won't be seeing a school--at least, not her school. Hopefully there will be one somewhere. But who knows. =/Nightlight wrote:^ It was said quite some time ago that the school she works in isn't in town, so I'm not sure if we're going to be able to actually see the school.
Here's the direct quote:Of course, I could just be misunderstanding, or it just means that the school is in Wes Town or Lulucoco Town instead of Tsuyukusa Town.Mei_is_me wrote:

That would be pretty typical of the series, so I completely believe it...it sounds right. It's too bad though, it would have been fun to see the school ourselves. (I doubt there would be a shrine school in Westown or Lulukoko.) It's standard for a candidate or two to be 'unavailable' on certain days, too, for at least part of the day.
Oh well...

Yeah, but I can still hope for now that there'll be at least a school room in one of the villages.
Even something like how there is a school room in AP where nothing really goes on there (at least, I don't remember seeing any children go in there), but it at least allows us to imagine that classes happen within the village. Probably won't happen, though, seeing as there's already going to be a lot of shops and hopefully houses for the people. (sos felt kind of empty without more housing and I don't want that to happen in this game--though i guess that's only a small detail)

The school in AP was actually where a few child events take place and you can find kids walking around there with Gill inside if you go in around 8 or 9 so it did actually have a purpose. I'd also like more housing. If you're going to call a place a town then people shouldn't be living where they work and it'd be nice to see more of the villagers have fleshed out homes. Since there are 3 towns I find it hard to believe that not one of them has a school, graveyard or shrine/church in their town. Where do all of the kids go all day? How do they know how to read and write? Has no one died recently in any of these towns?Kyu-kyuusha wrote:Yeah, but I can still hope for now that there'll be at least a school room in one of the villages.Even something like how there is a school room in AP where nothing really goes on there (at least, I don't remember seeing any children go in there), but it at least allows us to imagine that classes happen within the village. And speaking of, I think it would be great to have NPCs live in town. I loved having them in SI because they made the town seem a little more alive. Having 3 towns with 10+ people living in them is barren to me, and it's not as if they have to try hard with the designs or dialogue. They made about 30 NPCS for IOH if I remember correctly. If they did that again then each town would have at least 20 villagers. It'd be great to have Kasumi fans, fishermen and fashion nerds as well as farmhands for your aunt and uncle's farms. It's literally just making live in tourists.
I also think it'd be really cool if the weddings took place at different settings depending on who you marry. Like in Lulukoko maybe you get married on the beach (or the Shrine that makes the twins "shrine maidens")

I think I remember someone on the forums saying that our character can talk to animals-or at least the pets. I don't know how I forgot about it, but if it's true it makes the game ten times more interesting for me. It brings a little bit more of the magic to the series back. After all, with Harvest Goddesses, Harvest Kings, Wizards, Witches, Mukumuku and Harvest Sprites the bokumono series wasn't exactly made to be too realistic, and that's usually my favorite parts of the series. I like a nice balance between realistic and fantasy (but if I had to chose I'd always go for more fantasy) but I feel like recently bokumono games have lost their literal magic charm. In ANB, we get two sprites and I hate both of them. In SoS we got 6, I think, and they were nothing more than a nuisance. They didn't technically take up any space and didn't help you, all they did was talk about how the fields were great for this or that, which I already knew because I was able to go to the field and see what it was for before their events triggered. Dessie and Witchie were adorable, but only because Dessie had Witchie. I ended up befriending Witchie without knowing you got anything from doing so simply because I loved her character. I befriended Dessie simply because she was usually near Witchie. I loved how they played off of each other like a comedy duo and had a relationship opposite of the HG and Witch Princess before them if Dessie's ever in another game without Witchie I'm not going to bother talking to her. (They belong together.)
But enough about that. I've actually written a fanfic about the farmer being able to converse with animals, so this happening in the game is great story fodder and makes our bland, silent protagonist a little more interesting. Also, it's an ability that makes sense (except for the fact that it most likely won't apply to farm animals). I'm really curious as to how and if they're going to implement this and what role it would play in the story.

It's definitely true. We even had a screenshot of our character talking to one of them. (A cat with a bow-tie was doing the talking.) I think I can find it, it was in this thread at some point a fair while ago, I think...OctavieKnite88 wrote:I think I remember someone on the forums saying that our character can talk to animals-or at least the pets. SECONDED. Marvelous, gimme my hot doctor, please?!Shan O 123 wrote:I can't wait to see the next set of candidates/villagers, I still want my hot doctor candidate XD a girl can dream, <3
Also, there must be a lot more villagers yet to be released because we're missing so many roles. We don't know who the tailor or the doctor are. We also don't have mayors for any of the towns yet. I'd also assume that each town would have their own vendors for things like food and livestock. Unless they're planning on making some of them faceless NPCs...
This gives me hope of more candidates, though, because villagers and candidates are generally introduced alongside each other. I know we've discussed this before, but I'm really hoping for it.
I know we mentioned hoping for 8/8 candidates since it's an anniversary game...but 9/9 would be more likely if we were to get extra, right? (One more of each gender for each town?) That would just be darned spiffy, if we got 9 candidates (each) to choose from. Darn spiffy, I say. (I've never played a bokumono yet that had more than 6 options...though AP should get here by the end of the month.) It seems like it'd be a lot of fun to have that much choice.
It would be nice if you could have a best friend in the game, too (not talking about a pet, though.) Friend events would be great. (I think maybe you 'sort of' had friend events in ANB, or at least friendship references in one of the festivals where you would spend time with the same-gender candidate you had the best relationship with. Though that wasn't a stand-alone event.)

Our uncle and aunt could always sell us animals and crops; they do run a farm after all and can make money off of us. I can just imagine the family dinners.Shan O 123 wrote:This is why I have a feeling that Neil would be back, livestock. We don't have a livestock shock/stall. Also, it may be weird and I know it will probably never happen, but does anyone else want the ability to make someone not like you? Like, the most you can get is "we don't really know each other yet." I guess the closest you get to dislike was with Elise, but that was only because she made snooty comments because of her background. She didn't actually hate you.
I may be weird (okay no I am weird), but I think it would be more realistic that in a place where you're going to know so many people, at least one person would rub you the wrong way and vice versa. I dunno, I just think it'd be fun to implement a system where it's possible.
...Yeah, that's probably a REALLY strange thing to want! ^^;

Lol, true, but...this is still on my mind....
Spoiler:
Oh, speaking of Uncle Frank having his own farm, that was something in SoS that always nagged me just a little. We had FOUR other farmers...and yet no evidence that they were ever contributing to bringing any revenue into the town. (They SAID that it was thanks to everyone that the vendors were unlocked but I didn't see any sign of Elise making 15,000 cooked dishes or etc.) In this game, I'd like to see Frank actually do some business, somehow. The only thing in SoS was that you could see them grow crops if you didn't conquer all the fields yourself. But it would have been fun for me to see them actually working those fields a little, or carrying crops in to the vendors, or...anything that showed them as actual working farmers. (The rivalry events somehow never managed to give me the feeling that they were anything more than hobbyists.) I think you could sometimes see Fritz petting some cows or something like that, but they always just seemed to be wandering around, to me, not really working.
I'd like to see another farmer actually working, and I'm pretty sure I saw a screenshot of Uncle Frank tending crops, for this game. Oh yes, here:
I know it's a very small thing but it makes me feel less...lonely, sort of. Less isolated. I felt pretty isolated from the other villagers in SoS, not very connected to them. It's nice that we have actual relatives this time, too.
Oh, yeah, Kyu-kyuusha, I'd love having a best friend. And I'm not sure about having enemies (or whathaveyou) but the option would certainly be interesting.
