SoS: Trio of Towns General Info Thread!
I'm curious of what the toad costume actually does help out in. I think that's a heart under the stamina bar, but that still doesn't say a lot since stamina and animal friendship are both represented by hearts.
Regarding the redundancy, SOS had it too though. Sure you could recover stamina by eating, but wearing accessory combos helped too.

Stamina, yes, that's true...food has always restored stamina/energy. But this time the food has more effects and can also cause you to move faster, which to me, makes the Mario costume completely redundant. Unless the food only makes you a little faster but the costume upgrades your speed a lot. Anyway, to me it sounds like the costumes are completely unnecessary...just a cute extra, if you like it. Which is probably for the best. I don't like the costumes, so I wouldn't want to NEED to wear them to be able to make use of particularly useful bonuses that were not otherwise available.
I think increased stamina as an effect is actually represented by the arm icon under the heart bar...but I do need to go back and look at all the images again. I remember an arrow, an arm, the heart...and I'm not sure what other icons there were, now.
EDIT: Okay, the icons I see so far are a pink/red heart, a purple shoe, a dark greenish flexing arm, a blue fish, a light green bag (like a little sack of money, for some reason...it shows up when you wear the Peach costume, which makes no sense to me since that's supposed to help with friendship...why a little bag?) and a gold/yellow arrow pointing up. Those are the icons I've seen.

I really don't want to wear the Peach outfit just to increase people's affection. It's not that I don't like peach, I just want to wear her outfit (not fond of her choice in fashion).
I might wear Luigi's outfit just to get the fish but :/
I wonder if the villagers will comment on you outfit of choice or if they will mention how you look like a 'hero' or a plumber (lol) if you dress like Mario.

Luckily, it's not as if Peach's outfit is the only outfit that will increase friendship. Since we obviously have different clothing choices it could be safe to say that the villagers will have different preferences for the outfits which give you a small boost when you wear them and talk to them. Peach's outfit is probably just liked by all of the villagers so you don't have to go through the trouble of changing your outfit each time you want to raise someone else's affection. It might also give like, a 200 FP boost instead of the normal 100 FP but who knows. These costumes don't seem to be a necessity which is great. Unlike the Mario crops which I never used, I'll actually most likely use all of them at one point-save for Mario's costume. The horse and the speed boosts we can get from food are good enough for me. I don't want to waste the many materials I'm going to need for everything. Like you, I don't like Peach's costume or how any of the costumes look, to be honest, but I think they're decent enough to warrant use by some players. It really depends on how easy they are to get and if the other mechanics of the game make them redundant. That isn't to say that there aren't redundant features in the other games like wearing jewelry to restore stamina, for example. It completely gets rid of the need to eat, especially in SoS as previously mentioned by someone.
I find Friendship Boost items/buffs to be near-useless anyway, since it is such a small amount instead of a multiplier, and Festival Wins give so much that the cap can be hit very quickly (usually around Fall of Y2) and maintained easily, since there are quite a few Festivals each month/season. I'd definitely rather wear a different outfit to get another effect since Friendship is just so easy in all of the most recent games.
The thing I'm wondering about is the food buffs. I think this is the first time they've done this (although it is in Rune Factory series), and I'm wondering if they're going to go the MMORPGish route where food buffs only last a specified amount of time. They've already done something similar with the various potions (Angler's Luck, _Animal_ Friend potions, etc.), where the effect lasts only on the day you use it, or only for a few hours. However, if food effect lasts a very short period of time, in my case this would probably be under 4-in-game-hours, it might not even be worth eating.

So, I see that 4 more pages of info have gone up, but...doesn't it seem like all of it is just rehashed info released previously? Of course, I can't read it, so...
But if you haven't seen them already, here are links to the 4 pages:

I know some of it is about the...fan art contest or whatever it is. But since that really doesn't have anything to do with the new game, I don't really care about it. There is no actual new information about the game in there, is there?

Page 1 - Discusses how to make cloth on your farm using the cloth maker, which you then deliver to Shizu, who is the seamstress. There are different outfits themed to the different locations and you can change into them in your closet.Kikki wrote:So, I see that 4 more pages of info have gone up, but...doesn't it seem like all of it is just rehashed info released previously? Page 2 - Nothing new
Page 3 - Fanart contest
Page 4 - More fanart contest, a comic, and an interview with Hashimoto. I didn't read the whole thing, but he does confirm that the weather will be different between the different villages - e.g., a clear day in Wes Town could be a rainy day in Tsuyukusa.
