I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that it was stated earlier that you can't change your personality upgrade, and that the website and magazines said to be careful and think hard when choosing one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I distinctly remember something like that.

Your right, I remember seeing that too. I'll go searching for it but yeah, once you choose you can't change your personality (or so it was implied)

Hey, now you've mentioned it, I remember seeing something like that too, it said something about choosing your personality will effect your game play.

Oh? I don't remember that. It's good to know.

But it's a mite silly of them to say 'think hard about it' when you have to choose it at the beginning of the game, before you can possibly know which boost you'll need. Every game plays a little different. Going on the assumption that 'popular' increases FP gain, normally I'd say that choosing that personality type would be really unnecessary since the festivals make it pretty easy to gain FP with everyone. But if they've changed that and it's like AP where the festivals don't seem to give any general boost, then it would suddenly become the *most* important thing to choose, for me. How hard/easy it is to make money seems to change in every game, too.

So they're right one one hand...you've gotta think hard...but on the other, even if you do, how can you know until you've already played for a season or two and know how this specific incarnation of the game works? This will be one thing I'll have to pay attention to pre-game, then, to find out from other players before I start my own game. That or resign myself wasting some time playing a 'trial' game and restarting when I figure out which boost is the most useful.

I think that I would choose either popular or animal lover...

This is just a side note, so pay no mind to this . Oh my goodness, Shan O 123! Yesterday, I watched,like, the first three episodes(it was really addictive...) of the Hamtaro show, and I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!! So cute.

Shan O 123 fanfic story: I just wanted to say that thanks to anyone who had followed and liked this story. And to answer someone's review, funny thing. Shan's kinda based off myself. I'm actually handicapped IRL. I just thought it'd be interesting haha.

Sorry to say this AllHarvestMoon but posting more than once in a row and talking about religion is breaking the rules on here. I don't mind but you can get into trouble if you keep it up.



On another note, I just realized that on the Hamtaro page on the main website has the VA voicing some sentences, so it makes me wonder if Hamtaro will be using 'human' speach after all. I don't know Japanese very well but I know the word 'cute' (Kawaii) was used. Plus a word simular to Ohayou (which means good morning) was used but was pronounced with an ii at the end so I'm not sure what that means :/
Anyway my point is, perhaps Hamtaro having VA means something more than we initially thought?

AllHarvestMoon you may as well make an account to make personal conversations easier. It would also be a good idea to read through the forum rules.

I really can't wait to see more dialogue. I am going a little nuts waiting on the game to come out in Japan so we can start getting a better idea of what's going on with personalities. I can't seem to remember how long it was between the last release and it getting localized and released...but it would be nice if they managed to get it to the states and Europe before too long. The downside of us seeing this so early on is it sucks waiting.

I don't think it's silly. I believe they said that as an assumption that the player is casual and is playing to enjoy the game however he/she wants, which I think is what most HM/SOS gamers are. Like, they assume that the player doesn't have that 'competitive' streak to fully maximize the boosts in his/her first gameplay right away. Personally, when I play a game, my first playthroughs are played casually: exploring how the game works and it's features. Then if I want to try becoming the best or maximize features of the game, that's when I start a new file and make use of the knowledge of the game I discovered during my first play (or consult tips or walkthroughs online lol). I enjoy playing this way. Everyone has different takes on gaming, and I think Marvelous is just addressing their market, who are casual players, I believe. Though, who knows, they might release more information about the personality types; like a legit/official list of what each personality can offer.

It's true that everyone is different, and what makes the game fun is going to be different for each person.

I'm a quite casual player myself, and I think I'm a pretty ordinary member of the market. I don't think you have to be hardcore to want to be able to change your boost later on, once you actually know which boost will make the game the most fun for you. (Fun is what I'm thinking about. I want to maximize fun by minimizing any kind of grinding...that's what I would base my choice on.) For me, I don't see how I can make a useful decision during character creation, before I've gotten to actually play any of the game. That's why I said I felt it was a bit silly of them to say 'think hard' about the decision...because you don't have any information to think about, at that point...you can only make an uninformed choice. Though if it bothered you that I said I found it silly, I'm sorry.

So if you really can't change your personality later and I don't find out enough from the Japanese release about how hard it is to make friends/fish/get money/etc, I'll probably have to just play a season or two to find that out for myself, and re-start if I chose a personality that doesn't really help me out. I don't enjoy re-starting, but I enjoy grinding for FP/money/rare fish/etc even less, so if personality helps reduce any of that, I want to choose the one that fits me best. I'm going to buy and play the game regardless, but to me it's not the best feature to have to choose this at the very beginning and then be unable to change it.

Though this is assuming that the personality does give a worthwhile boost, of course. If the effect of personality on gameplay is really small, then it doesn't matter either way, I suppose.

EDIT: Oh...Mecha-lollipop: it was 13 months for SoS to come to North America, I believe.

I love how we can choose personalities!
