What is the best way to use the public fields? And which ones do you desperately need?
A lot of stuff also seems to grow on your own land but not everything, such as honey, mushrooms and paddy-crops.

Those three are important if you want to grow these things. The tea field produces a ridiculous amount of leaves for near zero effort too.

Personally I suggest getting all but the flower and the tree field. Growing on my farm was for the longest time nothing but trees, wood trees. For unlocking Ice Country. Now that's over I am remodeling things and I think that the best use of your own farm space is:

- Fruit trees
- Makers
- Pasture for animals
- Flowers
- Grass right now still for Tropical country

Rice paddy, tea tree field and honey/mushroom stocks mean ZERO work besides collecting and planting, but good profit.

Root field means sweet potatoes in autumn regrow every single day which is super helpful for Tropical country cooking 15k dishes.

Also it's just a nice achivement to own nearly all the land. I want to eventually own everything but right now I would not have the energy to use them all so I leave flowers and grains to the others atm.

All of them can be handy, just because crops will grow faster on 'em than in your farm fields. Trees in the orchard-field will also produce more fruit, up to 9, if they're a higher star value, when they only produce 5 normally.

Having the root crop field in Fall can really be a boon if you're going for unlocking Tropical Country, 'cause you can crank out Sweet Potatoes like mad to fill the vesture and cooking requirements.

I had all the fields to the right (tea, tree, and whatever the other one was) since they took up too much room on my farm. I had the honey and mushroom one for a while but didn't really want to fight for it since I didn't gain a ton of profit from it. Though that's my own fault lol but like everyone else has said, the root crop field is good too just because things grow so much quicker there. Also the rice patty field is good since you can't grow that on your farm.

I plan to keep the mushroom+honey field for an indefinite amount of time. I also want to get the paddy, since it seems you can't have any of those in your farm (too bad).

As for other fields, I'm currently using the tall crop field to grow cotton to make cowboy outfits (for tropical country).

I also have the tree, root and grain fields... But the workload is a bit too heavy, so I don't plan to renew these. Maybe only the root field for sweet potatoes in fall... But otherwise no.

Everything else, including flax, I grow in small quantities on my own land to increase their rank. The second field is currently also filled with wood trees.

As a side note, dried sweet potatoes sell for more than regular ones, and I assume they count as products like dried grass too.

Everything "dried" counts as a product but I personally only use Sweet Potatoes for cooking. It's much harder to fill the cooking requirement than products or vesture. Still stuck on 5k more cooking and I have everything else done by now. So annoying.

I only really use the honey and mushroom field. I don't really bother with the others to be honest.

Currently I'm actively using all of the rented fields, each of them completely planted. I have all Master level tools and a stamina regen accessory combo, so it's not really a hassle to take care of all of them, but I definitely wouldn't recommend trying to keep up with that amount of work without at least the accessory combo. I'm doing it so I can keep the full variety of seasonal crops at my disposal for fulfilling requests, as well as fertilizing toward the full 5 stars for each type of crop I can.

You get good at speedrunning your chores so you can still shop, sell, mine, and chat with people after farming (fishing only happens on rainy days for me though). But if you don't want the work, I'd just keep the fields that require no attention like other people have suggested.

I hardly use them, but when I do I just use the honey and mushroom fields

When it comes to sweet potatoes, I just use my greenhouse XD

I find the most important ones to be the mushroom/bee field (because you can't produce these on your own), the paddy (again because you can't produce them on your own), and the root crop field. For the root crop field you can produce a ridiculous number of crops at a fast pace which means a large profit in a shorter amount of time. :)

all of them for me except spices+grain (my spices+grains already at 5*)

you cant just put all trees on your farm, because you need 3 barns+2 coops for all animals (2 each of them for + product, and normal product), dont forget the ferris wheel+hot spring+4 greenhouses+factories+pet houses etc

i put all my fall+summer fruits on orchard, spring+winter on farm, i also put 2 bamboos on farm for bamboo shots.

After reading through the comments I think it's probably a good idea to get hold of the orchard and paddy field, and keep those forever. Crop and leafy field are my trademark.
