I think your request would most likely make you unable to progress in the game, as enemies drop things you will need to use for making your farm better, or quest items unless you want to get stuck into rng game with super expensive merchant to gather 30+ drops. Unless you have done everything already.
But it's up to you really.

Regarding the monster mods... Yeah, complete removal of the monsters seems like it'd be annoying to me as monster drops are needed for some things. But I can upload a XNB file that will remove monsters if anyone wants it. The problem is that it also removes any slimes you've bred (or will breed). All slimes are the same, so there's no way to remove them from certain locations via XNB file, I think. Alternatively, I can make a SMAPI mod that should only remove monsters from the mines, Skull Cavern, and forest (are there monsters anywhere else?), hopefully leaving hutch slimes alone.
Or, I've been trying to make a mostly non-aggressive monster SMAPI mod, where enemies are intended to ignore you and/or not do any damage if they do hit you. I thought it'd be interesting to have myself, and that way monsters are still there if you need to kill them for something. I still need to tweak some monsters, but based on what I'm seeing, I can't make all monsters do what I intended. Duggy is the only real exception as it will both still attack and do normal damage. Slimes ignore you but do 1 hp damage if they bump into you.
Someone who actually knows what they're doing could probably do a better job, though
I'm just trying doing trial and error till something works.
1. When did the game crash? When the game started, when you loaded the save, in a certain location, etc? If it happened on a certain map where a certain character was, it could be that one of the portrait files contains an error or something.
2. Did you make a back up of the original files? If so, does putting them back in fix the problem?
3. If you have Steam version, you can try to verify the game cache. Something may have somehow gotten changed that shouldn't have. It will replace any edited files/XNB mods you have with the original files, though.

If you're still having trouble with it, I can try to help, but not sure I'll be much of it.PeachyKeen wrote:I installed one of the portrait mods but now my game keeps crashing? Can someone help?
EDIT: The Pencil mod does NOT have all the portraits, so make sure to double check the ones in the game, and the mod file.

Penny is the cutest wife omg. I really need to expand my house again so we can fill it with babies
I'm currently torn between trying to make my farm prettier and finishing up the community center
Also tackling the Skull Cavern. FINALLY got the Galaxy Sword and crafted a bunch of bombs so WOW this is MUCH easier.
EAT IT MR QI I'LL MAKE IT TO LEVEL 25

Can't help you out with the Macbook question (though it's not a graphically intensive game, so I think you'd be fine), but the main differences between Steam and GOG are:
* Steam has achievements, but you need to launch the game through Steam to get them.
* Steam will auto-update the game when updates are made available by the developer.
* GOG doesn't have any DRM, so you can install and play your copy of Stardew anywhere, without needing to download and install a client.
* GOG has fair pricing for different regions, so you don't end up paying £30 ($40) for a $30 game just because you live in Europe.

I might actually buy on it COG just be sure I don't need an internet connection to launch the game (and because if it's like Origin, it's pretty annoying lol).
Surprisingly though, the version on COG is a bit more expensive than the one on Steam in Canada.
Also, if I'm moving to France in a few weeks, will I still be able to play the game if I bought it Canada ? I'm guessing so, but just wanted to make sure.

Woo update!!! The new screenshots of Shane's events look intriguing. Curious to see what Emily's storyline will be.
Currently debating whether I want to restart now or wait for 1.1 patch...

Right??? So excited for that too! I wanna say at least half the reason I stopped playing my file is that prospect of making my farm pretty involved moving the buildings which would be super expensiveEhppy wrote:Ooh! I'm excited for Shane and Emily, but the thing that excites me most about this update is the ability to MOVE BUILDINGS?
Yes please and thank goodness. I was terrified to work on my farm because I don't do well planning in advance and couldn't decide where to place the buildings. </3
My fiancee and I are pretty excited for multiplayer whenever that happens! Also curious to see what the new buildings will be.
My fiancee LOVED Stardew Valley. It was really fun watching her crank as much money out as possible, make her farm insanely gorgeous, and then stop playing because she got to the social aspect and was like 'eh.'
