The Safari

What is the point of the safari?

I know I can take my animals there (I haven't yet), but there doesn't really seem to be much point to it, other than being a great resource for gems, to make great profit for me. I'm currently at 12th Autumn in year 1.

Do I have to unlock something, or wait for some event to trigger for it to be any use to me other than being a gem resource?

After your animals spend 100 hours at the Safari, they'll produce High Quality products. Money!

Oh. Is that all? From the gems I get through mining and swiming, I can make about 20,000 G every time I go there. Which is every day, because I need a lot of money to get my farm just how I want it, with the big house and the animals, and whatnot. High quality products is low priority right now.

It also houses the more exotic animals.

That way you don't randomly have pandas, boars, monkeys and penguins living together in a regular forest next to a river.

I've been wondering this as well. But get a sewing studio and mine some silver and gems, man!! Selling the different type of rings changed my life. I went from plateauing at 10,000 to saving up 200,000 a month.

I've just started taking my animals there but I'm not sure how to optimize the my time while I'm there.

Its easy to make 1.000.000g per month....I'm at Fall y1, made already 4million....

Grow Flax, turn them into Golden Cloths, sell for about 7.000g ea...means 1 bag of Flax seeds is 63.000g if you use Sewing Studio o,o
Have about 10-20 fields of Flax, make >200k every harvest after converting to cloths.

Dying them into Gold Colors might take 6 hours each, but you can split them up. If you convert 30x1 Flax instead of 30 Flax at once, it takes 6 hours instead of 30x6 hours.

Just make it overnight, like 1st night Flax-> Linen Thread, 2nd night Linen Thread -> Gold Linen Thread (split up to be fast) -> 3rd night Gold Linen Thread -> Gold Cloths.

If you got a big amount of Gold Linen Cloths or Gold Cotton Cloths in your storage, you can win any field-challange by amount of money earned that day, just by selling a few.

(In Summer I conquered all field except Tree, Tee and Rice Paddy...still need to wait for them to get free)

And for the Safari: Just save when you enter the Safari, look everywhere carefull for stuff to collect, then reload and run directly to all locations that got items, so save the time you would need to look for them. You can try fishing/diving there to get different kinds of fish/perls then usual too. (I prefere fishing with Baits on Rainy Days when I got enough time left to be worth a good bait)

You might want to bring your animals to the Safari in the future. + Products can't substitute for the normal products; so if you want to fulfill some vendor requests or sew some clothes that require certain cloth+, you won't be able to do so until you have animals that produce the product since they aren't tradeable as well.

Oh. I'll think about that in future. I think the farmer default outfit is just adorable, so there is no need for me to make any new clothes. If I ever get to the point where I am making them, I'll think about it. Mostly, I've been going to the safari on my horse. It is part of my routine. Crops, animals, mine at safari, then go into town to do all other stuff.

I guess that makes sense, because it is empty except for the turtle and ducks on the pond. Not sure I would get all those animals though. I don't really want a pixelated zoo.

Will they only get + products due to safari? Or is it about having full hearts?

That, and the treats you give your animals also helps.

The 3 animal personalities each have a bonus associated with their species AND their personality.
The possible personality bonuses are:
Chance of + products.
Chance of one more product.
Chance of half-a-star-more product.
For example, a high-affection Cowardly cow will sometimes give you + milk. Only sometimes, though. As I mentioned, the bonus an animal gets is determined by species and personality.

when an animal spends 100 hrs at the safari, they will start producing the + (plus) versions of their wool.

The bad part is that they'll always give the + product, and + products can't be used as replacement for normal products in recipes and blueprints.

It's a bit of a double edged sword.

I really enjoy going to the safari in this game. It's so much better than the animal sanctuary in Anb.

That's why it's a good idea to leave some animals behind.
