Horse and carrots

I bought a carrot because I wanted to travel to the safari, after I dropped my junk at the farm. When I got back I noticed I still had the carrot. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the horse requires a carrot if you want to travel with it, so why didn't it disappear? Did I pay something else for the trip?

You don't need a carrot (or anything else) in order to travel to the Safari with your horse. The carrot's used up when you use the fast travel options between your farm and Oak Tree Town/the Trading Depot, however.

I was wondering the same thing! Now I don't have to worry about making sure that I have a carrot to get back from the safari!

Wait so how do you get to the safari by horse?

You just go to the little fast travel points. At the farm, by the rice paddy, next to the general store or at the trade depot. And you select "Go to Safari" and it takes you there. No carrot needed.
