What did you do with the spare land?

Meaning Eda's farm.

For mine, I left it empty for over a game year. Just built a little shrine near her grave. When my barn started filling up, I got the idea to cut down only a couple of trees, and turn it into one big pasture, for all my animals to enjoy, using a wooden fence and eastern barn and coop in the theme. A barn for all my wool producing animals, and a barn for the milk producing ones. The shrine to Eda is still there, though.

It really does look beautiful.

I currently use it to grow wood trees. Lots and lots of trees.

i was originally planning on making it an orchard + maker sheds, but after i got all the rental fields, i decided to rearrange everything. currently, the only things over there are my studio and 4 cherry trees. i haven't decided what i'm going to do with it once i can get those moved/chopped down. maybe i'll do what i did with the lowest level of the terraced field in anb and build a horse track, or turn it into a flower garden/playground.

First I used it for wood for lumber, then grass, (to unlock ice and tropical countries).

Then I planted flax before using it for lots of pineapples, melons and watermelons.

Now my barns, coops, makers, combo objects and a few flowers are there.

Wait, Eda’s grave can be found on her farm? I’m almost at the end of year 2 - how could I have missed that?! Shame one me, she was such a lovely granny...

I would like to have my secondary farm a bit more on the aesthetic side too as yours sounds great-looking. But apart from the greenhouse, cheese factory and vine factory there, I mostly use it for growing hardwood and softwood trees since you need quite a lot of wood in order to unlock the last two countries.
Basically, the same as Getaris.

You might wanna mark this with a spoiler tag, since you are giving a portion of the story away. I was totally surprised when it happened and that is always a cool thing.

I use the extra space for stuff that grows year round that I don't have a field for yet. Also the flower field is pretty lacking in space and flowers are my favorite thing to grow so I use the extra space for flowers. I think I may move my barn and coop over there and give my animals the extra room (i'm sure they don't care but I do!)

I've got several different kinds of trees, all the makers, a pond & various decorations, and a couple rows of crops. I'll mainly grow flax there if I'm not growing it in my tall crop field.

The shrine sounds cool, if you have a pic I'd love to see it.

I'm currently only using it for the maker sheds and to grow grass and trees to unlock Ice Country and Tropical Country.

I meant OP's shrine, but yeah, that grave is pretty hard to find, especially since by the time she's gone you really barely need the land (and there's rarely ever a reason to be in that corner, otherwise).

The moment I got it in my second playthrough, I started to grow trees in every single spot available. As soon as I had Ice Country unlocked, I started actually using the land.

I have two 4 x 4 Plots tilted, they are fenced in and I grow Flowers & Tall Crops there since I find the rental field for tall crops too small.

At the top of the farm are four Greenhouses.
One for Spring: Cherry trees and tea leaves.
One for Summer: Peach/Banana/Mango/Almond trees and tea leaves.
Two for Autumn: Grape/Apple/Lemon/Kiwi/Cocao in the first. Cocao/Muscat/Olive and tea leaves in the second.

My Winery and the cheesemaker are on the Sunnyside as well.

----
On my first playthrough though I made a huge pasture area for all my animals and put two Greenhouses there. Also my Pottery and the Winery.

I have four greenhouses in total in my first file (Two on my own side) too but I used them for seasonal crops all year around instead. I find that effective but I missed having crops on my own farmland so I didn't go down that road with my second file. My boy-farmer is just very into trees instead.

I put my extra barn there, together with the animals that don't need grazing. I put 4 greenhouses (max per area map), ferris wheel & a white teacup ride too. The spaces these stuffs taking are big, at the very least they can help preventing the growth of wild trees :) I also clutter lots of combo objects to use up the remaining space. Just recently I store the flying ship & finally have some spaces to plant more lumber trees.
