Tree growing guide

So I've seen a lot of people asking about how to grow trees and why their trees are dying. Mostly their trees are dying because they're getting too much sun or water at the wrong times. Since trees take so long to grow, can be planted at any time, but only bear fruit (and therefore reset their water/sun counters for the last time for the year) at one point during the year, this can be tricky. Using the information from http://fogu.com/hm8/farm/trees.php, I came up with this suggested tree growing schedule. I put in a cushion of a few days to account for differing weather patterns (since you never get +3 sun every day, or even +1...)

Where it says when to water the tree, water it 2x/day on those days, subtracting any rain you've gotten. If you don't subtract water your tree has already gotten, it shouldn't matter except for banana (they are ultra-sensitive to water) unless you get excessive amounts of rain (in this case, give the Harvest Goddess a whole bunch of stuff she likes. That's worked for getting rid of rain for me ).

When your tree is in the correct season to bear fruit (if you use this schedule, it is the next growing season following when they become mature), refer to the page cited above for the amount of water, days, and sun required before it will bear fruit.

So here's something someone said in a previous thread:

"Short answer, don't worry about when to plant them. Once they've reached the "Mature" phase as shown in the guide, they will not be able to die after the sun, water, and day requirements listed under the "To Flowering" stage are met.

So if your Peach tree reaches the mature stage, make sure it gets 6 sun, 3 water, and 3 days, and you should be good to go."

Does that mean this guide is pointless? Anyone have an answer out there?
