Harvest Moon: Skytree Village - General Info

So far I really like what I've seen. TLV was alright for me, and while I disliked SoM (hated the graphics and the fact that it's on mobile), I have to admit they listened to a lot of the feedback the fans gave and made a lot of good changes. So while the games they've made so far may have not lived up to the harvest moon game, the fact Natsume seems to be really trying to listen to their fanbase means I will give them the benefit of the doubt and get this one.
The game seems like TLV with the upgrades from SoM, with nice graphics to boot. I really like the upgraded tools and I hope terraforming can be done just as fast as the farming in this game. I also like the reduced number of animals, while I enjoyed the variety of them in SOS, they can also be so overwhelming with all the upgraded versions of the same animal. This game is probably also easier and less grindy than SOS, which I will also enjoy after I finish my 5 year playthrough of ANB.
All that I'm hoping for is more marriageable candidates (although I already really like Gabriel and Cyril). Gareth and Tabitha are in this game, so maybe they are also candidates and Natsume just didn't announce them because they wanted to focus on the new characters? Since the fans loved them so much and Natsume made them available on SoM, it'd be strange for them not to do the same in this game. And there's always DLC. Other than that, I'm hoping we can finally have a pet in this game. I don't want to see the poor bobcat out in the wild anymore.
Frankly, if this game turns out to be good, then I'm glad the slit between Marvelous and Natsume happened. Other than better localization and twice the games, we can have the more in depth and more time consuming SOS and the easier and lax Harvest Moon. Both flavors can be enjoyed at different times.

Yes, Gabriel's mom and little brother are missing. I was just trying to get the pics up after chatting with the team. A lot of villagers have family members such as Dean and his mom, Elise and her chef dad, etc.Getaris wrote:I'm sure that's not ALL the characters.
For starters, it's missing the sprites.
And Sally & Mom.
And Gabriel's mom.
And other random characters from the trailer.
It is a playable demo, but from what I played you can go around talking to villagers and exploring the area. In the demo the farmhouse is pretty much in the same spot as LV, but the path that previously could not be walked down now leads to the north entrance to the town.
Nah, it looked a bit different in the valley. Just the farmhouse entrance area looked familiar. There was a cave that lead to the goddess shrine like in LV, but in the demo it was in a different spot.Getaris wrote:Huh, so would you say it actually takes place in the same lost valley?
If that's the case, I hope the place won't be entirely just copy-pasted.

NintendoLife got to play the game and they liked it!
Apparently there's two new camera modes for terraforming: a faux 2D top down mode and a third person shooter-like one with the ability to strafe while using your tools for precision farming.
It sounds ridiculously useful.

Not sure if this was posted, but Nintendo Everything wrote up a summary on the new details, including information about the marriage candidates:
