First of all, new trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kh3LxfoYDY (Thanks to those who linked in the information thread)
Cher is visiting E3 and has had a chance to visit the XSEED booth where there's a playable Japanese version. She's been kind enough to give us some new info!
Fun fact, the cow is named Hanako in that screenshot
Not related to E3, but the latest Famitsu scans released today are rounded up here: - http://nintendoeverything.com/scans-rou ... ch-3-more/

Dengeki has some new screenshots: http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/297/1297151/Cher @ Ushi No Tane @Cherubae wrote: ~Neil is NOT in the game. Mr. Red Coat is just a random villager.
~Ooyyy taay, they have a JP version of the game for show attendees to try out. The farm is HUGE, at least 3 screens worth. No public fields.
~You can have multiple pets, as many pet barns as you can, 1 pet per barn, plus your soul mate pet. Not sure yet if it can be swapped out.
~The soul mate pet allows you to hear talk between other pets and wild animals. Villagers have pets too.
~While I was playing, MC's mom stopped by for a visit and was hanging out inside the farm house. Little sis will visit too.
~Part time jobs have to be completed on the same day that you accept them, so be careful which job you accept.
~Dad will give you tasks to complete, to convince him that you truly can become a farmer. Make dad proud!
~The calender is insane. Bombardment of birthdays and festivals. Can switch between weekly view and monthly view. So much to do event-wise.
~The towns are connected by a main crossroads and a path from Westown, to Lulukoko, to Tsuyukusa. There's fast travel points too.
~Important note - Inari is special in that it can't produce offspring. Makes sense since it is a magical being.
~JP character names will be the same as possible, but changes may end up becoming necessary.
~Inside your house you can place lamps that turn on and off the lightsthe interior farmhouse is really dark without lights!
~Time does not stop while indoors in the latest SoS game.
~New tree crop - maple trees can be harvested to make maple syrup.
~Tool upgrades are more complex. For example, watering can has separate remodeling to change its volume or its weight (stamina conservation).
~As with the prior version the villagers have a meal time, but this time somehow you can sit and eat with them.
~The plot is to raise the prosperity of each town, which is why the shipping bin allows you to select which town you are shipping for.
~As each town becomes better, things will unlock. Raising friendships with each towns' villagers will also help.
~For growing rice and other paddy crops, you don't need a special public field. You can make paddy fields on your massive farm space.
~There is no river diving. Fishing is anywhere there is water. Toss in line, wait for fish shadow to bite, then mash A until you reel it in.
~Festivals in the game include town specific and all-towns options. So many festivals... (maybe I can get a calender picture. It's crazy...)
~The game is about 30% larger text wise. It may take XSeed some time to localize plus QA. So no harassing them for release dates
~Also, there is a farm house mailbox, but no television.
~Ah yes, cows. There are different patterned black and white cows in the animal shops. Pets are for sale in the shops too.
~"There are no mountain areas that I saw. Wild items and bugs are all over in the towns and your farm."
~There are no marriage or farm rivals in the new SoS game. Other farmers, yes, but they do their own thing.
~The fast travel takes money. It is an elephant in Lulukoko, a stagecoach in Westown, and a palanquin in Tsuyukusa.
~The proposal items are a Blue Feather in Lulukoko, a Comb in Tsuyukusa, and a Wedding Ring in Westown.
~Not sure if + quality products are back or if a Farm Bell for mass herding is available yet.
~The farm is on a grid, so your buildings need to fit within the available space along with the crop plots and Farm Circle objects.
~The barns come with attached perimeter fencing. The small barn holds 1 animal, a larger one hold up to 4 animals.
~There are a few more two-color eye options available. Same skin color choices as before.
~Here's the calender for Fall. Cake icons are birthdays, stars are festivals in the three towns.
~Some town festivals might take place on the same day, so you've to decide which one you want to attend.
~The crop plots are grouped in pairs and can be moved when editing the farm layout.
~Oh yea, Trio of Towns tidbit - Small Lumber, Lumber, Small Stone, and Stone can be bought from shops. No limited daily supply like in SoS.
