Ludus was always 2 syllables though, Ludeus is a typo/romanization error that stuck. It's kind of like people insisting on calling Toona "Touna" back when RF3 was released.

Vixie? Really? It sounds way too feminine if you're playing as a girl, which means that he's supposed to be a guy.

I'm not liking this name at all.

Purple_Blossoms wrote:Regarding one of the asked question earlier, the multiplayer in this game is somewhat similar to SOS's multiplayer, but instead of going to other farmer's farmlands, you get transported to a tropical-like island for trading random items. It honestly sucks in my opinion though. Like, I guess going to other people's farms in SOS could take a long time to trade and wand all of their crops and animals, but at least it helped relieve their animal's stress and increase their crop's star rank. But in this game, the multiplayer island feels kind of useless, since you can't really do anything except use the chat box, and give 1-3 gifts.
(Now that I think about it, I guess it is helpful for trading things like blueprint materials and five star crops, but the whole online process does feel lackluster and empty considering how amazing this game is otherwise :( )

Man, I am not too fond of their choice of name for replacing Lisette, even if it is just a placeholder (How do you even pronounce a name like Rescht!? ) Carolina isn't bad, but when I look at her character I have trouble calling her that name, lol. I wouldnt mind if they kept Lisette, or changed it to Lichette/Lishette. It has a more "western-y" sound to it, but if they name her after a flower, I hope they pick a cute name for her. Ludeus' name change is so-so since it doesn't really bother me, but It would have been cool if they kept it the same, since it was easier using three syllables instead of two syllables for pronouncing his name imo. The twins names are fine as well with the change, but I was suprisingly not a fan of Vixie, which I'm guessing is Inari's nickname. It sounds kind of feminine for a character who's supposed to technically be a male if you play as a female, and it also kinda sounds a little childish. Cute, but a teeny bit childish for a sacred magical fox guardian (but then again foxes are playful, so maybe it brings out the playful rambunctiousness of being part fox?)

All the wedding dresses are very fabulous on the MC. If I had to rank them, I'd go: Lulucoco>>>Tsuyukusa>Westown.
Ludus isn't really a name change. It's just a...how do you say, more logical and proper romanization of Rudusu. Ludeus was never set in stone, it was more of something that fans came up with. They could have named him Rudus and it would still make sense. I'm also fine with Vixie, since it relates to foxes (vixens, which are female foxes...but whatever, Vixie has never had a definite « Chicken Hugging » from what I've heard so far, only the gender seems to change depending on your MC and there's nothing wrong with masculine people having feminine names imo). Chama is a more affectionate, childish way of saying sama which shows respect, so it sounding "childish" makes sense. It's not actually as if this is their birth name or anything, it's just a nickname and there's no rule that spirits can't be "childish" if they feel like it, who are we to judge? It also goes well with the whole DessIE and WitchIE thing they have going on, and I can imagine the littlies calling them that affectionately.

I was hoping they'd keep a Japanese sounding name for Vixie though. I dunno, Kitsunie? It at least makes the name more gender neutral. I really want them to push the gender neutral thing, and show off the different cultures. Vixie sounds too western is my only problem with the nickname. I just think it'd be a little weird to have people like Komari and Hinata and then just...Vixie. Which is so obviously not in any way Japanese.

As for Lisette, I wouldn't mind them keeping the name as Lisette or naming her Angelica (it's a flower used in teas and candy, usually white), Daisy, Orchid, Poppy or whatever flower she's adorned with, even. I'd rather they not put any names of any countries that exist here in the game. Faye could work, too. Lisette is said to like fairy tales so literally being named another word for fairy makes sense. Western fairies are usually pictured with flowers.

The wedding dresses are beautiful! Wasn't very interested in the Tsuyukasa one at first based on what I saw of Komari and Kasumi wearing it but I really like now that I've seen the whole thing.

Name changes are fine with me, although I'd prefer Lisette/Lichette (never quite know what to call her) to keep something similar to her original name.

Those dresses are very pretty. I do want to see the male MC in his wedding outfits too though. Hopefully they're found somewhere soon.

And on the topic of the names... I guess I'll toss my two cents into the ring. They were going for a Rose de Rescht (AKA: Portland Rose) but it got fan-translated as "Lisette/Lichette". Thing is, a Lisette is a type of rose as well, specifically the "Petite Lisette". So, I guess they kind of unintentionally ran into that one. XSEED could keep her name as Lisette to keep with the rose theme or they can just drop all pretense and just name the girl Rose.

The rest of the names are also fine.

Not a fan of Inari and Lisette's name changes despite the reasoning. Rescht just sounds really weird, and Vixie sounds too much like a girl's name for someone that's supposed to be either gender.

Doesn't one of Lisette's events (or dialogue boxes) involve her talking about being named for the flower, Lisette, or am I losing my mind? How do you miss all the in-game context when naming characters in English?

Having major problems with "Vixie" as well for the aforementioned etymology reasons. A vixen is a female fox, and Inari is supposed to be either both male and female or neither, from what I understand. Maybe Vulpie? :? I'd rather it just stay Inari(e), or something that "feels" Tsuyukusa in origin. A play on Kitsune as OctavieKnite mentioned?

I'm going to have to hunt down the contact information for XSEED, since of course they nefariously spring this garbage on us when their forums are being redone.

Saw a small portion of the livestream. HAD to make a reappearance, just for 'Vixie'. Almost exploded at the idea of not being able to say anything, lol.

'Vixie' sounds like a great name...for a Playboy playmate. Made me shudder when I heard it...couldn't hate it more, I don't think. I'd have to be paid to put in the amount of effort it would take to succeed at hating it any more, anyway. Only fitting for an ultra-girlie character, imo. Couldn't they at least shorten it to just 'Vix'? That at least sounds neutral. All names ending in 'ie' are very feminine and/or childish. Though still...'vixen' is a female fox, so why do they want to go with that? But if they shortened it to 'Vix' I could live with it anyway.

Okay, my feelings are relieved. Bye again, everybody. :)

I'm going to have to agree that I would've preferred a gender neutral name for Inari like they had in Japanese. Also, like OctavieKnite88 said, it's weird that Inari is in Tsuyukusa and is supposed to be Japanese and they're the only one who has a non-Japanese sounding name.

Maybe it would be better to keep the name as-is? I'd also like to know where we can contact X-SEED to see if we can request a name-change like with Mistel.

English isn't my first language so I can't really imagine if Vixie really does sound as feminine as everyone is saying... but even without knowing that it still feels somehow wrong? Like it doesn't fit Tsuyukusa or something. I can't quite put it into words, haha. I'd prefer it if Inari was still Inari in the US version :c

Also I know where they're going with renaming Lisette to Rescht but it sounds so harsh and bad and no pls don't do this xseed ;-;

Can I ask a question not related to the names? I've been reading stuff you guys or people on tumblr post about 3oT and while the game seems very good, especially in the characters and events department, I'm really worried about one thing: difficulty. Isn't the whole thing just... too easy? As far as I understand, you can both get married and fulfil your father's requests by the beginning of 2nd year. This is absolutely fine, as I was usually done with the major tasks in previous Bokumons by then too, but is there anything to do after you've done the stuff for your dad? Besides having kids, that is?

I'm sorry if it's a stupid question; I feel kind of conflicted because I don't want the game to be a grindfest like SoS, but at the same time I want it to last as long as possible without being too boring.

I'm going to ask that someone makes a thread specifically for names and move the conversation over there, please.

@Ultima - I honestly don't personally think so, it's incredibly refreshing after SoS' insane grindfest. I'm at 55 hours and still not even halfway through ranking up the towns to S rank. The storyline is technically really short and quickly doable if you plan correctly, but that's not too big of a deal imo since it'll still take me until year 2 to finish which is fine. I'm taking my time though so keep that in mind.

There are like 29 random town events and I've seen like... 5? Haven't even touched anything with the soul pet animals thing.

For some people I guess it's going to be too easy, but just posting my perspective. For those people I'd say play on veteran if you want to elongate the game a tad bit. But this for me is the first Bokumono in years where I actually am making more than one file to see more of the content, so I'm pretty happy with it. It's relaxing.

@Ultima I have no idea how many hours I've put into this game but I've been playing it pretty much nonstop since I got it a few days after it came out. I've got all towns up to B, with West and Lulu locked ready to go up to A and I'm on Fall Year 4, married and pregnant. This is the longest I have every played a Harvest Moon game and I definitely wouldn't call it too easy :P

I think in terms of difficulty its perfect. Everything thats time locked happens in the first year and honestly im usually married by the beginning of the second year in most of the games anyway. There's no super ridiculous requirements (that ive seen so far at least) but the beginning of the game is still a bit of a challenge with stamina and stuff.

I've yet to see what post marriage life is like... But im engaged in game so we'll find out soon enough.
