Hello all! XD

I caved and got the game! So far it's awesome, even if I can't understand most of what they are saying. Only in middle of first Spring but I wanted to ask something.

I got the editing farm unlocked but how do I replace the old dirt with the better dirt I bought from the store? It does not come up in the options unless I'm not understanding something. Or do I need to buy something from Luedus first? (Sorry for misspell).

Please and thank you for any help. (I'm going through this thread post by post to discover any useful links or info. I already know about the tumblr).

Inari is both Male and Female, functions exactly like Jamie from Magical Melody. If you play as a male, Inari will be female. If you play as female, Inari will be male.

No the game won't end in 3oT (like it did in MM) but Inari doesn't live with you AND doesn't have children. :/

Is it easy to pick between veteran or novice? I mean is the Japanese easy to understand so I'll pick the right one?

I think so. I'm pretty sure seedling mode is the default mode, but fwiw I've been playing on veteran mode since the beginning and I think the difficulty is just fine-- nowhere near as grindy as SoS or ANB.

Are you trying to swap out your crop growing plots? You won't get the next field plot upgrade for a while yet. The plots are just like in A New Beginning, where you pick them up and move them around while you are in edit mode. It isn't like in Story of Seasons where they are on the ground and you just dig using your Hoe.

The dirt you buy in the stores are materials that Ludus will use to construct Farm Circles; the basic field is one of those Farm Circle objects. The basic field (畑) requires 10 かわいた土 (Dry Soil). The next field that makes crops grow faster (ふかふか畑) requires 20 やわらかい土 (Soft Soil), 20 かたい土 (Dry Soil), and 5 ぴかりんひりょう (the yellow bag fertilizer).

しんまい = seedling
ベテラン = veteran

Personally I went with seedling mode after the grind of the previous version. It seems to conserve stamina more and gives a 30% shop discount on some items, but those can be countered later in the game by upgrading your tools and becoming rather wealthy. Seedling mode only seems beneficial when you're just starting out in the game. Kind of like picking your personality type; everything evens out later in the game.

For those who do want a more challenging experience, I would suggest looking into the New Game+ "Unathletic" starting trait, which seems kind of brutal to me. That combined with Original Mode would probably keep anyone on their toes for a good long while.

@Cherubae Thank you very much for the answer, along with some helpful Japanese for later use in the game. Now I understand. I thought I was doing something wrong in Edit mode or didn't have enough ingredients to make a better soil plot. It just won't be there for awhile.

Thanks again. :-D

Oh dear lord, that sounds horrifying. Part of me wants to do it, and other part of me is slapping that first part of me silly.

Can you imagine that mode with no heart meter?
